Why does this film only have a 3.6 on here? Toe to Toe is so much better than that. Thoughts?
It's pretty simple sadly. There is a lesbian in a movie? You'll see masses voting it a 1. Yes, there are people who have nothing better to do than promote hatred and bigotry on imdb.

There have to be a bunch of people with vendettas against this flick... I just finished watching it and for a low-budget (and I mean low budget) indie, it had some strong writing and decent acting. I'm from the DC/VA area- the dialogue, slang and overall climate were spot on... I liked the incorporation of GoGo music too (strictly regional thing). The movie wasn't perfect, but 3.8 is dangerously close to Uwe Boll territory. This rating best go up!

Well, it's creeped up to 4.2, which is still ridiculously low, compared to all the junk movies that rate higher. This is well acted, well written, well directed and well filmed. Pretty much the only thing people can hold against it is their stupid politics.
I suspect this movie will continue to inch forward as more viewers like it and the original haters will disappear into a historical fog.
I mean shyte, the alleged lesbian chick never even gets a kiss, so any hate from that perspective isn't even rational!

I agree that the film merits a much higher rating. The two female leads were completely convincing. I don't buy the argument that hints of lesbianism lower ratings.
shareThe film has two female leads, one of whom is Black and the other who is white. The stereotypical movie roles have been reversed, in which black = negative/ white = positive. This maybe hard to swallow for some who have consumed the black/white dichotomy of good vs. evil.
shareau contraire, these two characters did not fall into stereotypes at all: everyone had shades of gray, just like typical real life. that's what makes it such a well-written and played script!
sharesadly, it's simply an indie movie that starts out slowly, building a mood & setting the scene, taking time to develop characters and giving the audience space. in this era, that's just too slow for some folks.
