Local small market filmmaking to be commended

"Everyman's War" is no slick Hollywood epic to be sure. It has problems in it's narrative, acting is raw and direction is shaky at times.

Don't bother with it if you have a weak attention span. Or maybe do, and perhaps you will find some scenes as rewarding as I did. Maybe this film helps some people grow up just a little bit.

I don't know anything about the filmmakers but I can tell you one thing. They are honest.

I encourage everyone to check out lesser known works NOT produced by giant corporations. These artists enrich us all.

I agree. Some of the acting was a little off. But considering nobody in this production has any film experience to speak of, it was quite good. First time out for the director and screenwriter, and none of the cast has any real previous dialog parts according to imdb. The final product was better than alot of bigger budget mainstream crap. The cgi snow storm somebody else in another thread mentioned as subpar has been used in other big budget films, and the toy tank scene? yeah that was pretty obvious, but no worse than some of the effects on the huge budget GI Joe movie last summer.

As far as the sets, props, staging, wardrobe and combat scenes, all seemed authentic, and as good as any mainstream war drama(except the tank). It kind of reminded me of Band Of Bothers which had less action, more story than the slightly over the top Private Ryan.

Igave this film an 8. I'm guessing most of the people that slammed this movie were younger kids expecting an action flick. They probably wouldn't like any war pictures from the forties or fifties either.
