3 potato references? SPOILERS

I have questions about possible potato references in the movie:

1. There are 2 scenes where she is sitting on the bed and there appears to be something dropping from her lap onto the floor. Was she trimming the potato roots growing from her body?

2. There was a scene where a dog was following her annoyingly close. Was it because it smelled the odor of the potato?

3. She later receives a blooming potato plant from the gardener. Did anyone think it was the same one removed from her body?
