WHAT IS IT WITH THE LOW-BUDGET BS DISASTER MOVIES?

I saw this movie last night and I'm in natural disasters as a hobby and I read about tornadoes all the time and this movie put all of that scientific research to shame. Have you noticed a couple of trends recently? All these low budget disaster movies are hitting tv but they are beyond ridiculous. I don't remember the title of the movie possibly earthquake in NYC where for some reason some of the footage from Dante's Peak was put in the middle. Has our economy really gotten to the creative mind where this kind of crap has to constantly show up? And I agree with another poster that why are all these disasters happening in NYC? Even the big budget flicks like The Day After Tomorrow or Cloverfield or Deep Impact. Why can't they choose another major city like Paris or London or L.A. Those are recognizable. Why does NYC have to take the beating. I kinda figured after 9/11 they would leave it alone.

Here's why I think this movie stunk:
~The supposed wind devils that show up in central park did so from a completely blue sky. That's already a sign that this can't happen.
~The ppl frozen in plaza from a tornado? Impossible. A tornado is windy but for it to function it has to have enough warm air.
~The fact that the twister hit the west village, picked up the woman and nearly the car but failed to take the tables or umbrellas and do damage to the buildings; is just bad creativity.
~Even if what they said had happened in the atmosphere, there's just too many inconsistances to make this movie good.
~The end of the movie was literally as if the director didn't know how to end it and just threw in that scene. If you look closely at the top of the Eiffel tower where the green stuff (technically called St. Elmo's Fire) is coming down the tower, the sky above it is clear blue. St. Elmo's fire doesn't appear from a blue sky. It appears for a static charged thunderstorm that should be visible above.

I think its about high time for ppl to get their heads screwed on straight that if they want to create a made for TV movie, than at least get your facts straight and don't make it look like something someone created in their basement!

Anyone saw any other inconsistances in the movie that they want to point out or share their views?

Please remember that ppl are allowed to state their opinions so lets do it in an civilized fashion without any cursing.

~Ciao

I don't think anyone is going to argue in favour on the believability of this film. But I really wish some of the actors could use a little humour in their acting/portrayals. come on you're dealing with tornados killing people, this is hilarious!

You weren't there when it was being made, believe me there were tons of inconsistencies! I can tell you though, that it wasn't made in someone's basement.... ok actually, part of it was in the basement of an old hospital :D

You think this movie was bad....check out Earthstorm and Megafault....or rather don't check it out and take my word for it! Those were worse than this and I didn't think that was even humanly possible.....it seems as the years progress ppl keep making crapier and crapier movies!

Yet, we keep watching them. ;p

There's something to be said for a truly bad movie. They make you appreciate really well-made movies even more. I'll keep watching things like this just for the laugh factor.

I'll have to agree with you there....A few nights I saw a movie with Alexandra Paul (Baywatch) about A Volcano in NY....I was like are you kidding me? It was so bad...I keep wondering why scyfy airs these horrible movies.....can't someone make a good one? And leave NYC alone! Especially when I saw that they had enough brain power to use 9/11 footage in the movie. That was tacky and tasteless!

The only thing you said that I will argue with is about the dust devils. Dust devils DO occur under cloudless blue skies. In fact that is the only way they can form because they are created by the sun's heating of surface air. It is a surface weather phenomenon that happens all the time all over the world.

But otherwise as a storm chaser, I agree. This movie is a total POS. The concept had potential, but they screwed it up royally.

Some of the low budget disaster movies are not all that bad. But this one - oh my word.......worse than watching a train wreck. Not one person in it can act ..... it's the saddest thing I've watched in ages.
