What happened to Bryan?

I didn't get to see the ending of this, i left right after Bryan got zapped because he sprayed the power lines with water to stop and electric surge form killing the people who were watching. So what happened to him, did he die or were they able to save him?

He was a posthumous hero at the end. That took me by surprise. I never thought that he'd be killed off.
