I didn't hear any south African in his accent the two are completely different. if there was any slip up in the accent department it would be his English accent coming out or a bit of german

Yes the 2 accents are very different, thats why it was easy to tell hear the bih difference.

Yes, lots of Russian accents in the movie often morphed into German ones, unless they were meant to be actual Germans...
