Why did Jack Ryan kill Embee?

First of all, does he have some ethical guidelines against killing or is he just straight-up Charles Bronson/James Bond?

I would imagine he neutralized him after a certain point and could have tied and gagged him or knocked him out.

Additionally, didn't he need information from him before shooting him?

I'll put it this way your jack ryan right not a big person, your trying not to be killed by this massive guy bigger stronger than you. Would you be able to knock him out and have time to find something to tie him up with?
Especially when he clearly didn't get knocked out when he crashed into the toilet bowl.

I remember from the book "Patriot Games" how the prosecutor asked why Ryan didn't just shoot the accused in the hip instead of killing him. Ryan's response was along the lines of, "This isn't the Old West on TV where everyone can shoot a dime out of the air. And, if you don't neutralize the threat, he can still neutralize you."

This is a joke, yes?

Why did you post a spoiler w/o a warning?

The movie had been out for more than a year when he posted this. That is enough time for the movie to be at the theaters, on DVD and shown on cable.

No need for spoilers after that much time.

Don't get me wrong, I hate the jaqk offs who post spoilers five minutes after a TV show has aired. But I also tend to stay away from those boards until I've seen the latest episode because of those jaqk offs.

reply

Exactly!

People who whine about spoilers are just spoiled brats themselves.

Anyone worried about coming across a spoilers should stay Off the boards until they've seen the movie/TV episode themselves.

The only nod towards spoiler etiquette I follow is in not putting a spoiler in a thread title. Otherwise, you place your bets and take your chances.

I'm not a "brat," junior. Just because I don't watch a flick the instant it comes out, it doesn't mean I need to duck its board until I do. Mind your manners.

And since the OP violated your own "spoiler etiquette," why are you taking exception to my question?

And I am not a Junior, Kid.

Just because I don't watch a flick the instant it comes out, it doesn't mean I need to duck its board until I do.

You're right, you don't.
But then don't whine and bitch about spoilers if you do.
See how that works?

My manners were just fine. YOU however, seem to be the one getting offended. That's YOUR choice to be offended, not my problem.

Don't name-call and be surprised when one takes exception to same. That's what a "kid" does.

And you have every right to be dead-wrong about acceptable imdb behavior, so enjoy exercising that right.

Again, the movie had been out for more than a year when he posted the topic, and if you don't want to worry about spoilers, don't go to a board where they discuss a movie you haven't seen.
