Catherine Zeta Jones

It occurs to me that I've not seen a bad film with CZJ. Is she just wise and lucky in her choice of projects or does her presence lift a film up a notch or two ?
I enjoyed this film but when you think about it there is nothing clever or original about the story. The success or otherwise lies firmly on CZK - though I thought everyone else was very good - particularly Justin Bartha, who I wasn't actually aware of before, and the kids.
It's easy to imagine how this film would have faired with different leads - almost certainly just another disappointing formulaic romcom where you don't really care what happens by the end as long as it finishes soon.
But having stated the above it belatedly occurs to me that the writer/director might have had something to do with my enjoyment of this particular film. I think it's a pretty good sign when you wish it was a bit longer and you could learn more about all the supporting cast. I shall have to look out for more of Bart Freundlich's projects.
