Walt’s family was ridiculous

Just rewatched it after many years.

Walt’s family was just ridiculous. His granddaughter asking him if she could have the Gran Torino when he died was tactless.

The son celebrating his birthday when his real intention was to take the house from him.

Calling him only to ask for Season tickets and ignoring him when he wants to call to chat.

I get that Walt was a bad father and just terrible to be around. But if that is the case, just leave him alone. Don’t be asking for stuff from him.

Agree, what a bunch of asses.

I think the depiction of them is to show people how family can be so insensitive and uncaring to their parents and grandparents when they get that age.

I love how they buy him a phone with huge numbers to push, and a device to reach high place's, then they throw down a bunch of retirement home brochures in front of him. They might as well just said

" Hey Pops you're a geriatric, over the hill, burnout, so maybe it's time to hand me over the house, because you are too much of an old buffoon to take care of it, and we'll ship you off to the retirement home. Don't worry about the El Camino either. We will make sure your rotten grandaughter who never expressed any tears for her dead grandma gets it "

reply

Lol, El Camino.

I see what you did there.

Perchik is rolling in his grave, and he ain't even dead yet!

reply

reply

Yes they were a bit over the top.

In Million Dollar Baby the family of Hillary Swank’s character acted similarly. That was also directed by Clint Eastwood.

reply

Unfortunately, there are families that are like that.
