Hasn't aged well

Racist terms like gook and spook, preaching to black's and Asians alike gives this a "white saviour" vibe.

And how many stereotypes does this have?

I'm surprised it's still on Netflix.

reply

It's actually aged very well in the fact it's more relevant now than when it was released.

reply

FUCK OFF SJW

reply

The movie is not that old.

reply

The times haven't changed that much since 2009. Unfortunately, I think you missed the point of the movie.

reply

Times have changed, where have you been? BLM, #metoo, transrights, etc etc.

A man couldn’t marry a man in 2009.

Society is now very different.

reply

This movie is all about racism, though... and that hasn't changed.

reply

Things have indeed changed, but nothing changes in the minds of the neanderthal, the change becomes more obvious after they begin to die off.

reply

lol Did you just call me a neanderthal because I said racism still exists?

reply

Sorry you feel that way, I still think it's great.

reply

All the reject movies on are on NetFlix ... but having said that, I liked Gran Torino, in the same way I "like" most Clint Eastwood movies, a little bit tongue-in-cheek and not paying too much attention.. ;-) I thought it was a good movie, particularly in some of those scenes where he slammed the reverend, and the ones where at least the first time you see them you wonder if he's gonna get hurt, like standing up against those gang-bangers. This is just one of his "old man" movies.

reply

It’s a great movie and there are lots of people who act just like Eastwood’s character, especially those from older generations.

Does a film have to align with current wokeness to “age well?”

reply

Yes. Current wokeness in the 50s saw a backlash for the Disney movie Songs of the South.

reply

Get it on VHS before it’s banned.

reply

Funny how you did not focus on what the white men called themselves in it.
