People hate this film because it had a story line

Most horror fans of today HATE storylines in horror films. I, for one, really like a good story line in horror.

Today's horror fans want to see nothing but a ton of blood, gore, pain, and torture. That's why they like the Saw series. It's a guy who kidnaps people and tortures them... he gets away with it... and then does it again to more people in the next film. And people only like it cuz of all the blood and torture. That's it.

A lot of people hated this movie because it had an actual story line.

It was Doris all along who killed the kids. She received power because they were using the board against the rules (the first was playing alone, the group didn't say goodbye). Her power grew but the sewing on the mouth restrained her. When they cut her loose, she got even stronger and could overcome the mother.

Why could she kill when the mother tried to stop her? She had messed with evil spirits and was stronger than mother, her and her sister's victim. During the scene when Doris appeared and acts like the mother is the evil spirit she is just lying and acting innocent to trick the kids.

Doris' mother killed Doris and sewed her mouth shut because spirits were trying to communicate through Doris, and that Paulina then killed mother because of this.

No. When Paulina's sister was alive, her mother promised Paulina she'd let her be the vessel like Doris, but she never kept her promise. After Doris died, Paulina thought she finally had the chance to be the vessel, but her mother still won't let her. In a fit of rage, Paulina killed her mother.

who was killing the kids before this? Why would the mother kill Isabelle? And Debbie? If she was "protecting" them? She didn't have to kill them to keep them away from the board.

It was Doris who killed Debbie and Isabelle. She would kill more if it wasn't for her mother, who repeatedly stopped Doris going near the kids, and her own stitched mouth, which minimized the spirits' power within her.

Alot of people hate this film because its one of the worst horrors ever to be made.

reply

People hate this movie because it's utter garbage and a mockery to the entire horror genre.

I kinda liked it. I thought it used suspense far more than grotesque scenes. I guess that doesn't sell like blood and guts, as the OP clearly stated. I thought it was good, not great. The leading lady has a face made for the camera, which didn't hurt the films watchability.

Granted, the story line falls apart near the end. I guess they needed 20 more minutes of film.

Really? Even Shark in Venice (2008), Night of the Lepus (1972), Zombie Strippers (2008), Gingerdead Man (2005), Lost Souls (2000), Dreamcatcher (2003) and many more?

I'm thinking you're either being dramatic or haven't seen many horror films because comparing with those awful horror films above, Ouija is merely weak. Not bad, not terrible. Just another generic job in a long line of horror films featuring an ouija board.

reply

Don't forget Devil's Due and Paranormal Activity 1-5.

reply

I'd rather watch something like Zombie Strippers or Night of the Lepus then something like Ouija. Those movies are entertainingly bad, while Ouija is just incredibly dull.

reply

It had?

Well a weak one I guess.

Was so looking forward to this movie too.

reply

No, we hate it because it's predictable, stale, poorly acted, poorly written, boring and no scary at all.

Oh and the story was poor since the ending was absolutely terrible.

So no, we hate it for good reasons.

reply

Nope they hated it because it's poorly done and not scary.

reply

The story has been done before and better.
People don't hate a film for having a story.

They hate a film for having a bad, predictable story they've seen done better before

reply

Poorly written garbage, and to top it off had a highly unnecessary twist.
