Playing Possum... (spoilers)

What the heck was the point of her playing possum at the end? Why did she do it?

Is it normal behavior for someone finding their significant other collapsed and unresponsive on the floor to sit there and get all weepy rather than call the Sardinian equivalent of 911?

Did he know she was faking?

Are they supposed to reconcile after this fainting spell?

The only time I really liked either character past the first ten minutes was when she sat on the bed and said she hated him. Finally, something that we could all agree on...

The whole movie was like a long evening with smug and shallow bores... I saw no growth or change in the male lead through the entire movie - he will be just as shallow and narcissistic ten years down the road as he is at the film's conclusion.
