Is 'The Fixer' a 'Callan' remake for the noughties?

I'm in Australia and this series just began on SBS-TV tonight. It is the start of our non-ratings period and this series may have already aired on Pay-TV, however 2 years late is not unusual and better late than never. Although I have only just viewed the first episode, I could have sworn I was watching a remake of the iconic 70's series "Callan" starring the late Edward Woodward.

Apart from the addition of more females in the cast, the script could have been lifted straight from that series, at least in the opening episode.

Anybody else made the comparison? Can't say whether this programme has any promise yet as "Callan" was such an iconic programme for it's time (& it still remains timeless) and would be hard to beat.

I'm in Australia too and watched The Fixer on Monday night. I commented to my husband that I wondered whether it was a Callan remake. There are a lot of comparisons.

I never thought of that but it could be. Both have stoic characters who don't really want to do the job they are doing. Hmmmmm. I think it could possibly be that they took the concept (much like Burn Notice took the concept of The Equalizer) and altered it to make The Fixer.

Love this show though.
