I thought this was a very good film ; beautifully shot, great acting, powerful...
But having watched this the day after 'Dead man shoes' I felt there was something pornographic about the portrayal of..despair..in both films...
The depiction of these lives (the like of which Im familar with) seems..gratutious....
I felt moved but slightly...emotionally grotty..after watching and enjoying them...

If by pornographic, you mean voyeuristic, then yeah maybe a little. But I guess the big difference with things like trash reality tv for example, which prays on voyeuristic tendencies, is that it is not meant to make you feel good about yourself by looking down on people who are worse off. Both movies are about terribly dark times in people's lives but they are also about the bonds that unite us and redemption in a way.
