Anyone else dumbfounded....?

The main character who befriended that thrift store lady after killing his dog was demonstrated as being a violent brute with rage problems so I was TOTALLY expecting him to beat the crap out of his friend's abusive husband, the fact that this never happened seems VERY odd to me.

He was trying his best to turn his life around.

I wanted it to happen, but it would have been a very pat, easy road to go down. There are several instances where we are saying "Yes! Go on!" but it doesn't happen (the "bunny" incident for example).

The overall feeling was of the frustration of real life, where we're usually powerless to do anything to help, or to ride to the rescue, either through fear or circumstances. In a way I suppose they both rescued each other, but not with a good old punch-up.

Uhh... what do you think was going to happen when he found the husband's dead body? Why do you think he wedged the keys in his fist?

Not sure you've thought this one through.

I took the thing with the keys to be a defensive action.
