Her performance in this film is absolutely stunning! Having only really seen her in comedy roles I didn't know she had it in her. One of the best performances I've seen this year and I hope she gets the recognition she deserves at next years BAFTAs.

Definitely. I too only know her from her comedy roles, but she is ASTONISHING in this film. Hope she does more drama soon.
shareI feel like it's one of those performances that's just about one scene. She's excellent in that moment but that was it for me. She made no other impression but she wasn't helped by the thin screenplay.

I remember seeing 'Tilda Swinton' and thought what a superb actress and then when I heard Olivia Colman beat her, at the Evening Standards Award in London, I needed to see this film. And what a performance. I saw her in 'Rev' but what depth and true acting she can bring in this film. She is one to watch out for. A brilliant haunting and touching performance. 10/10 to Olivia Colman.

Like everyone else, I'd only seen her in Peep Show and Rev previously, in the former I felt she was miscast - increasingly so as the show went on, but solid performances.
But give her a part of this quality and she knocks it out of the park!

shareShe really is incredible in this. A complete revelation. I've only really known her from her comedic roles as well. Saw her in Broadchurch and was recommended this film - she was unbelievable. A wonderfully versatile actress to be able to achieve such humour and lightness of touch and yet also go to such dark, traumatic places as she did in this film. Pure class.
shareI was very surprised to see her get the BAFTA's on Sunday as I think she is a two trick pony like the awful "actor" Peter Mullan. That face they put on and then hold the stare is not acting to me it is totally unnatural and unconvincing and apparently director's are using it more and more. Having watched some very good actors over a considerable number of years the difference is the subtlety of the look, movement of the eyes and all parts of the face and the less is more, effortless performances where the actor never appears to be acting and totally sucks the audience in. To me OC and PM style of acting is hit you over the head with a sledgehammer as opposed to subtle. Just my opinion folks but I do notice this "style" of acting more and more.
