Who is Olivia Colman and How Can She Be So Good?

Ok I realize she was in Hot Fuzz and some other things but my God! She is like Meryl Streep in this movie. Always makes me wonder when I see performances like this, is it really so easy? (Bjork, Dancer in the Dark is another) Is it the director (of course he's a rookie in this case). How can such an unknown actress be so good? Are there thousands of other actresses how there who could also give such a good performance if only they had the chance?

I know, wish she was as well loved and utilized in the States. She was so good in this movie I nearly died.

Olivia Colman, in my opinion, is a highly underrated actress. She has done a lot of comedy and just recently we have been seeing her in more dramatic roles (Accused, Broadchurch and Tyrannasaur). She has recently won two Baftas, for two programmes that are polar opposites.

Hopefully she will be in more films now.

There is a risk that she will be typecasted; the down-trodden, neglected and down-on-her-luck woman. She's very good don't get me wrong but it is now all too common to see her pleading and puffy eyes, with a faceful of tears.

she is excellent in comedy and drama- look for Broadchurch, Run, Twenty Twelve, Rev, she was Carole Thatcher in the Iron Lady, all the work she has done with Mitchell & Webb including Peep show, Green Wing and she is such a sweet modest person- one of the stars of British Drama

She is awful, and totally overrated. The Brits here love her for some reason. She is an advert actress trying to make it as a 'proper' actress and she is so scarred the bubble will burst because she knows how bad she is and can't understand why she is getting all these credits.

Obviously you are entitled to your opinion but i wholeheartedly disagree with you i thought her performance in Tyrannosaur was exceptional and i am delighted that she is now getting recognition for her work.
