So, if these weren't the real characters, were they really injured/killed? If so, that means 2 Petals, and 2 Hollys were killed (original and the movie ones). Only 1 Vialli, cuz the movie differs from the researchers book. According to the book it was Risca who took over, not Vialli.

shareYea, in the book (non-fictionalized account) she was eaten by a goshawk. But they changed it in the movie, presumably so they could have Flower fight that snake later in life.
Yea, but they didn't cause any of the meerkats' deaths, they just took footage of already-dying ones.
And I don't think the Actress playing Vialli died, they only showed her looking at a car and then cut to black. The car wasn't even close to her when they blacked out, so odds are they just cut out the footage of movie-vialli running off of the street and added in car-crash noises to create an illusion. Meerkats don't usually cross roads, and when they do, they're not exactly traffic-heavy in the Kalahari desert. That part was probably dramatized.
