Don't watch if you're upset about Robin Williams

I've been in tears about Robin Williams all day. I go to watch this movie to distract myself (maybe not the best choice of movie), and I kid you not, Seth Rogen makes a Robin Williams suicide joke in the first 20 minutes of the movie.

DO NOT WATCH RIGHT NOW

It's insane that is in the film! He mentions something about slitting his wrists right?

I know, how could they NOT know that he was going to die 5 years later?!?!

Seth totally predicted the future.

Leave me be. 

Jesus. Seth and Judd must feel pretty sh-tty when they rewatch the film and that line comes up. I wonder how many people tweeted Seth to tell him his prediction came true when they news broke.

I was very sad about Robin Williams's death last year too, but you can't fault the filmmakers for writing a joke that would come true half a decade later.

I'm not faulting them. They had no way of knowing what would happen. I'm just saying that on a personal level, they might feel a bit of a sting. Re-watching the scene and hearing that line must be kind of weird for them, considering what happened.

"Barker, that is not your boyfriend's dick. Do not come early."

I know what you mean about the personal sting. When re-watching the episode of Louie in which Robin Williams has a cameo, before he and Louie C.K. say goodbye, Robin Williams says something along the lines of "I'll come to your funeral, or you can come to mine, whichever one of us goes first." That line definitely had a much darker context upon re-watching it recently.

It's very sad. Robin Williams's death has cast a bit of a dark shadow over popular culture. Re-watching some of his more serious films, like The Fisher King, World's Greatest Dad, One Hour Photo and Good Will Hunting, always gives me a bit of a sad melancholy feeling inside.

Just watched it and to be fair- Robin Williams didn't slit his wrists like Judd wrote it, he hung himself.
Still, pretty incredible they predicted him committing suicide in an otherwise relatively boring film that had few laughs and had me walking out disappointed with Sandler, Apatow, Rogen and especially Bana after seeing it (as an Aussie myself, I'm incredibly tired of the 'accent' that is attributed to us and Bana sounding like an idiot when he spoke with it)

I think it was meant as a callback to the joke Seth made about Robin's Knuckles in Knocked Up. But yea, eerie nonetheless.

As weird as it it now post Williams' death, it really just proves itself true. The idea behind the joke was George Simmons going up there being all depressed is not what you'd expect from a funny man. Much like you wouldn't expect it from Robin Williams. Boy did we not expect it, and Judd Apatow went so far as not expecting it to make a joke out of it.
