What different eras and locations do you want for Assassin's Creed 3 + 4

In terms of era (past, present, future and/or a combo of all)
and location/s, what would you like seeing in the inevitable
Assassin's Creed 3 and 4 games and please say why.

reply

Might be interesting to see an AC set in modern day, not sure where exactly, but I think it would be cool to be able to go around the streets and climb over things, but I'm not sure who the people being assassinated could be, I'd want to say modernise it with drug people, but that's sort of like GTA, but not.

reply

I think that a modern day AC is probably planned already, maybe it would the final chapter where desmond actually becomes an assassin. and I guess it would look like GTA meets Splinter Cell/Hitman in a way. :p

Hopefully....

reply

I guess that AC's gameplay would be very suited for a game recreating the "Bourne" movies unique atmosphere: on the run from almighty organizations with high-tech gadgets, armed only with your wit and skills.

reply

I want pirates and ghosts!

There isn't going to be an Assassins Creed 4. Ubisoft said at E3 this past year that the story was always intended to be a trilogy.

reply

The 3rd game French Revolution of the 18th century which would be a few hundred years after the 2nd like the 2nd was set a few hundred years after the 1st game.

Unless they tie up all the lose ends of him using the Animus I rather them set it primarily in the past, I wouldn't be too keen I'm it becoming a full on 3rd person shooter.

reply

Four different locations/time periods for me: 1) The French Revolution 2) England in the Industrial Revolution (I'd love to freerun around the docklands of Southwark and Lambeth) 3) America during the Industrial Revolution, (I'm thinking Chicago shortly after the Great Chicago Fire) 4) Feudal Japan (around the time westerners started to become more common in that part of the world).

As long as the stay away from the 20th Century I'll be happy. We don't need a another dude running around killing Nazis during WW2, I don't care if he can do parkour.

What about The Great War?

reply

The Great War would be ok if it were based in the Austro-Hungary/Germany Regions; that part of the world has some great architecture and was a political firecraker at the time. Good oppurtunity for some sort of 'Franz Ferdinand/Balkan Terroist Conspiracy'.

Would be nice if AC3 moved from London to Paris, just think of it, climbing Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower, for example.

reply

Why not between Paris, London and Amsterdam? In AC1 Altair traveled a lot in the middle east. It comes now to me... Russia too, maybe?

reply

I rather fancy the Russian Revolution myself. Lots of "celebrities" plus maybe a chance to give a young version of Stalin a bit of a kick in the trousers.

reply

twill be set in the future/current desmond time.
following the story still of asbergo and *beep*

reply

The Great Depression, kinda like the De Niro in the godfather. It would be pretty sweet free running around a massive city while skyscrapers are being built and fighting through construction sites far off the ground. As long as its stealthy and with blades i'm happy.
Guns will ruin the intimate connection you have with your character and his victims.
The game works best when you can plan out your path to get right next to your target.

reply

I would like to see AC in the area of Judea and the Roman Empire, assassanating Romans and corrupt priests.

reply

Not gonna happen. They said Altiar is the furthest they would go back to.

yeah that does kinda make sense when you really think about it, i mean, look what they did for ACII. they have an economy and banking system built right in. to go even further back in time would really ruin what they have already established in the franchise.

money can buy you almost anything.......but it can't buy what's most precious of all.......love.

I think it would be great too see Assasin's Creed III set in the 18th century, In America during the Revolution. They could tie in some Freemason conspiracies linked to the Founding Fathers, and stuff. The French Revolution would also be pretty cool.

"I snort. I drink I kill. I am not a kid-I am a man."

reply

yes, the revolution and the freemasons would be perfect! and then the 4th one should be desmond after all his animus training and the final mission should be assassinating a U.S. president who is, in fact, a templar/freemason.

reply

The third one will definitely be set in the present, there's no way we are going back to the past now since Desmond has the training now.

reply

It will never be in Asia or play as a "mongolian assassin". Remember that Altair and Ezio are Desmonds ancestors so he really isn't going to have any past relatives that are oriental. (Thats not saying his ancestor doesn't travel to Asia)

A likely location would be France during the revolution... but it really is anyones guess at this stage. It could well be set in the present (desmonds present). Wherever it will be, I'm sure it will be carefully thought out and just as fun as The Crusades or The Renaissance.

"A Serious House on Serious Earth... Welcome to the Madhouse"

reply

im sure that if anyone traced theyre heritage far back enough they would find they have relatives of every race.

Besides Altair's race is kinda ambiguous, so I see no reason why there cant be a game set in Asia in fact I feel an asian set game would make more sense considering theyve already covered the middle east and europe at thier most historical turning points, the mongol conquests are just as historically important as the renassance and the crusades and provide a great reason to show lots of fighting and diverse locations.

reply

cenobite182, making no assumptions and judgements, let me inform you that Asians are not to be referred to as "oriental". "Oriental" is coined for objects from Asia, such as furniture or carpets. "Asian" is the proper term for peoples of Asia. And the characters could very well have ancestors that are Mongolian. National Geographic reported a long while back that the oldest body ever found on this earth was from a region around North Korea, where the Mongolians could have derived from - and the characters of the game in fact would have to have been in some way related to the humans of the distant and original cultures. I mean, the first known civilization was in China, so there yeh go.

reply

I'd like to see a game set in asia, perhaps a mongolian assassin thats travels all over using the silk road, the cities could include Beijing, Baghdad, and another city in the east mabye Moscow. Your base could be Genghis Khans encampment in the mongolian steppe and he sends you around murdering his enemies around the world and outdoor locations would be the gobi desert, siberia, mabye the himalayas, the great wall. Some combat changes could be like having a fighting system on horseback and use bow and arrows.

Anyway I think it would make an epic ass game!!

reply

Japan! during SengokuJidai period joining the Iga ninjas with HattoriHanzo assassinating Koga ninjas, daimyos, generals and some dutch and english weapon traders... fun!

reply

Damn I didn't even think of that. Good point. Japan would be amazing with ninja assassins. In fact anywhere in East Asia would be interesting.

Of course if you play AC2 then its pretty obvious that the next game will be in modern day.

i think that mite suck...

the whole thing about being in the past is the lack of technology n stuff to really track the character...

if it's set in the present or future or whatever i think you'll lose the free-running and melee combat...

instead they'll just use satellites to track or whatever...

i have no idea...just my 2 cents...

I haven't beat it yet (about 10 hours in), but it seems like for 3 they would do a past and present again in the 3rd one...with the present probably taking up a larger percentage of the game(and being the climax).

At this point I think maybe they would allow Desmond to go back to multiple ancestors in the 3rd one...so we could see multiple times, plus whatever present day is (I dont remember them ever giving us a date). That would fill out gaps plus allow them to explore some amazing cities/times around the world instead of having to base it in a specific period.

reply

i was just thinking that yesterday...

be more of a split of past and present, the past being the french revolution or something...

maybe two identical pathways, meaning we play one mission in the past as 'whoever' and then play almost an identical mission in the present as desmond...

something like that...think godfather part 2 where past and present reflect similar actions...

if that makes any sense at all...

Ubisoft should get a hold of Dan Brown to help them write a storyline for subject 16 that traces pieces of Eden back to Scotland and England (think Da Vinci Code in the 1200 - 1400s).

reply

Read Davik Icke books. The dude pass his stuff for real, but he is actually a great fiction writer :^D And, having read them, I saw how AC took a lot of ideas from them (http://www.davidicke.com/)

reply

Step it up to 1920's new york when skyscrapers were first coming around. The assassin's have multiple templars to kill who are all involved in the real estate licensing.

reply

Possible spoilers ahead, but....

After beating the second game, we have a good idea of where the temples mentioned are (I'm assuming, the temples being the locations marked on the codexes), so one of those places would be cool. Maybe have a time in China now or South America, with Desmond looking in on another ancestor to try and figure out what is necessary to get into one of the temples and make it work to stop whatever is coming.

I can't imagine this ending as a trilogy though, unless they have Desmond and gang go to every single temple in one game. Which is certainly possible. It would be a huge game, probably involving multiple Assassin's from multiple times, but I suppose that would be one way to make the next game that much bigger.

I haven't read cadillac20's post since the game arrived yesterday and i only played 8 hours. My guess is that (like someone else already stated) since they are training Desmond, the third installment will be in the present. But imagine this: Just like Indiana Jones and the last crusade, it would be so fun to play in the 40s and look for templar treasures!

They may be looking at a female assassin in ww2... god I hope not. The femme fatale I can handle. I wouldn't be opposed. But the ww2 setting? GOD DAMN, we've been there and done that so many times. I'd love to see the American revolution period done...

reply

Yeah that sounds like they were just brainstorming. Although it would be a completely new look at WWII and I wouldn't be against playing a level or two of a war torn London/Germany etc...just not a whole game. After beating it, I'm still thinking multiple eras for the next one although during the climax you do get a big hint at what the next game will be for Desmond...

There are so many eras, they could go on for a long time...but rather than flesh out an almost GTA type character each time, I'd like the focus to be more on Desmond using his ability to flash back in time to gain info using his ancestors.

reply

Well, in assassins creed Altair was not left with a cliffhanger. Ezio was left with a huge one, so i think that the third game will have alot of desmond play and he will need to use Ezio to get info on certain things. Ezio just cant be out the picture that fast.

reply

AC was always planned as a trilogy. That means no AC 4.
Also going by the clues left at the end of AC 1 there were hints at Italy and Japan.
Italy was obviously this game.
So Japan for AC 3?

Yep because if part 3 rakes in zillions theyre gonna say no to part 4 and dump their cashcow... lol

They may have written it initially as a trilogy but you can bet your bottom dollar they will extend it. As they said in the link I posted before 'We could make 35 of these games!'

It's really the game situation that just keeps on giving. Able to travel through different time periods etc.

reply

Plans for the Assassin's Creed series were originally focused on a trilogy of games, but now Ubisoft says it has a larger focus. "What's so great about Assassin's Creed is that we can just expand and expand," creative director Patrice Fortier told XBW.

"I'm often asked if we're doing a third game after ACII... I mean, we could do 35 of these."

Oooh!

I think Japan would be amazing, too! Oh, the possibilities.

|[ I'm so confused will you show to me you'll be there for me and care enough to bear me? ]|

reply

It doesn't really matter if somebody once said this game is written as a trilogy. The terminator was supposed to be a 2 film story, but we all know how that turned out.

I am kind of hoping for a Desmond-centric story. Anyone played InFamous? I could imagine it being sort of like that.... Without the crazy super powers.

it's a pornography store. i was buying pornography.

reply

They should have AC3 set in edo era japan, that would work perfectly as you would be a ninja assassin or something.

reply

I think a ninja in Japan would be awesome for the third game and starting during the Edo period of early 17th century would fall in line with the progression, at least time wise.

They said their original plans were for a trilogy, but with the money they're making off this I doubt they will just call it quits after the next one.

Remember Metal Gear Solid was only going to be three games as well, and Hideo said over and over during the third one that it would be the last.

reply

I think a ninja in Japan would be awesome

Yea but this would be impossible. Technically, that is. I mean, does Desmond show any asian characteristics? He looks more mediterranean. So...unless they take a caucasian and drop him in Japan, the ancestor theme will be a bit too much. BUT if they do take a caucasian and move him to japan, it will be a tad difficult to make him blend, or be incognito since he's gonna blend out horribly. Am I making any sense in this? :P

The creators wanted to go up to 3, and that's probably going to be set in modern time since the second one is supposed to train Desmon to become an assassin.

This is not a sig. It's just so you don't think the last line of my post was a sig.

reply

mostly mdoern time but through in a lot of periods briefly basically everything that came after ezio.

i am sure that half of the game will be in the past and the 2 nd half or quarter for that matter will be in the future from our stand point of view(present in the ac universe).

reply

I'd like to see AC3 have Desmond as the assassin, pull the hood up on his sweater and throw a black long coat over it or something. Have him do a mix of taking down Abstrego and traveling the world to locate the pieces of Eden before Abstrego finds them.

i'd like too see india as a location in AC3 fer 4 i'd like too see japan.
with us playing desmond in intervals like ac2 but more desmond intervals.

reply

I read in a magazine that AC3 would continue following Ezio's footsteps in the renaissance and they would alternate it with the events in the present with Desmond.

I hope is not true, I loved Ezio, but I would like to see another time era and another character.
