The 'g word'

I just watched this movie for the first time, and absolutely loved it. However, I noticed that the word "gay" was NEVER used. Did I miss something?

I noticed that as well.

Different culture.

I thought, by the subject line, that you were referring to gentrification. Of course, this was film at a time when you could still get a studio in the Mission for $2,000 a month.

But I don't recall hearing "gay" in this film either. To tell you the truth, I'm not sure this film's about homosexuality anyway. Seems more about cars or culture or something else. I'm not sure, and neither were the filmmakers.

Growing up in a culture like this I can honestly the word "gay" isn't used much if it all. It wasn't until I started integrating with other cultures that I found there are correct and polite ways to use the term. Sadly, in this culture you'll hear the word joto thrown around a lot. Which pretty much means "f*gget". Which is what Che says to the group during the fight with his son.
