Wouldn't Kratos have already released Hope?

Wouldn't Kratos already have realeased Hope the FIRST time he opened Pandora's box?

Confused?

Allow me to explain:

Pandora was the first mortal woman ever created, she was a gift from the Gods to Man.She was given a box which contained the world's evils, but was told never to open it.Eventually she gave into temptation and opened it,releasing the world's evils. She quickly closed the box,but when she did she trapped Hope inside.

So since the evils of the world had already been released, the only thing that would be in the box when Kratos first opened it was Hope.

Which leads me to ask:Why would they be keeping an empty box in the Flame of Olympus?Aren't there more CONSTRUCTIVE things that the box could be used for?

I should have known those alien maggots booby trapped this sub.

First of all forget all of the mythology stuff because the God of War series borrows loosely from it.
The short version compared to the entire God of War 3 story is basically Zeus didn't know it was empty and even Kratos had no idea that he had already released everything in the box.
He only thought he had released the power to kill the Gods but he didn't know exactly what.
Pandora was created along with the box to keep the box safe within the flames of Olympus but she never opened it.

Athena explained in the end that hope was in him but was trapped behind his guilt for what he did to his family. He forgave himself allowing hope to be free. Basically it all ended with. "The power was inside you all along" shtick. But oh what glorious shtick.
