Help please.

I saw this movie a while back but I cannot think of the name. It's an old horror movie. From the 80's I think.
It starts off Halloween night, this boy dressed as a clown is forced to bob for apples....then it goes forward in time, he blows up a car at a gas station by putting a rag in the gas tank and lighting it on fire.. And he also holds 4 teens hostage at his house, which is out in the middle of nowhere, he is chasing and killing them.



Sorry it's not a very good description, but it's been a while since I've seen it, but if anyone has any idea of what the name of that movie might be, please help.
