Why not kill Morgana?

I just finished this series and I really enjoyed it, however some thing bugged my. My biggest problem was with Morgana after season 2 when she became a villain. She tried and failed time and time again. In the end I believe no one was afraid of her because she was basically a looser even though she had great powers.

My other problem with the series is that no one bothers to take five seconds to kill Morgana instead of knocking her unconscious every time. She tries to kill them, but they seem to forget that every time they meet her. I really wish they had just killed her of in season 3 because she was annoying after that in my opinion. They had so many chances and seemed just as surprised every time she returned.

My last problem was Morgana's smiling in the end of every scene after she became evil. It was too annoying.

But as I said, I loved the series and gave it 9/10 stars

Ah, I know but you could put the same on pretty much every show and film that ever existed! The hero always lets the villain live because they are the hero and if they killed them outright not only would you lose the main obstacle but the tv series would have been about 2 episodes long. If the hero does end up killing it has to be because they were pushed for too long and too hard.

The evil smiling got old quickly for me too and we all wished that someone would just kill her but the show need a big bad so they wouldn't do it even though it seemed so simple.

It made Merlin appear as an idiot unable to make decisive choices. Time and again he was warned and proven by the Dragon of Morgana's and Mordred's evil. It's absurd for him to believe of stopping every single plot.

In the historical literature Merlin was depicted as being wise. Apparentl, this show opted for a different narrative.

Seriously as soon as she subtly started smiling and believe me it was soooooo subtle they should have ran her through with sword...nonsexually of course.

Why not kill Morgana?

This I think is a real complaint. Merlin wasn't hesitant to kill Agravaine or whatever his name was. Yet right after in the same episode Merline as 'Dragoon' sneaks into the castle (under Morgana's control) and into Morgana's bedroom, where he used magic to temporarily disable her. In this moment he should have confronted her and killed her.

What LadyAH said. Not only that, but Merlin himself stated (I forget what episode it was, but it was in season 3 if I remember correctly) that he didn't really feel anger towards her as much as sadness (or perhaps pity). He even says "she's become so bitter, so full of hate." He knew her--at least for a time--before she turned evil, so that made killing her more problematic, at least in Merlin's eyes.

I'm currently on Season 3 and just seems she's a puppet. After her vengeance, her character is so weak.

Probably shouldn't have read this since now I know Morgana isn't dying.
