Season three...'Summer Girls?' Really?

I can't be the only one who feels embarrassed for these skanky-looking Botox Barbies -- 40 years old and still clinging to some adolescent notion of what's attractive and "cool." When I saw them bump asses and chirp "Summer girls!" I actually burst out laughing, thinking they couldn't possibly be for real. But I think they are!

I watched a bit of season one and none of season two, but I have to admit these awful skeezy girls are making me want to watch season three, if only to marvel at their nasty makeup and surgically enhanced bodies.

Those 'summer girls' are a joke. Seriously they are (at least) 37/38 years old and still acting like kids. I'm embarrassed for them also. I would bet that like any reality show, the producers encourage outrageous behavior but yea, that butt bumping is a little much.

I'd say, because of the previews, the blonde is a stripper.

I can't believe the bully is telling the cameraman to shut the camera off. The producers need to tell them they signed up and agreed to be taped so cameras stay on. If people don't want to look like a douchebag, don't sign up to be on the show.

Why can't there be any decent looking guys on these shows. There have been a few but for the most part, the guys are nothing to write home about...but then again, neither are the girls.

I agree with kong, television has hit an all time low and appears to be sinking with each passing day.

Of course I will be watching every episode also to laugh at these morons.

Do any of these people know what self respect is? I'm guessing, NO.

I just hope we won't be subjected to 10-15 minutes of previews for "The Cougar" again this season at the end of each episode.

This is coming from a 38 year old......"class of 1990"...all of you above posters, will be in your 30s someday too! Just ten years ago, in the year 2000, I was laughing and pointing at anyone and everyone over age 30, somehow thinking that youth lasts forever...guess what?! it dosen't. In 2020...you kids, will be where we are. Just enjoy your teens and twenties, because it does go by quickly!!

reply

Sorry, but I have passed my 30's and well into my 40's and I don't see any maturity in those people. Same reason I don't associate with the 37 other people in my graduating class. They are all still playing their high school games.

I'm 44yr old, class of 84 and I went to my 25 reunion and the amazing thing was the same 5 to 7 people that hung out in high school were hanging out again and acting the same way. That was when I was glad that I and a few others were really glad that we moved on to 2009 instead of being stuck in 1984.

Actually, I'm 19 and I watch this show. I honestly don't know why though, I saw people like this in high school everyday. It is really sad that people their age (the summer girls) still act like they're in high school, it is so childish. I hated people like this in high school, and I hate the summer girls. It was so stupid to have an invite only party, they should try to be friendly to everyone. They think they are so mature and classy, but they aren't at all.

reply

I'll be 37 in a few months, also class of 1990. I actually doubt this show attracts anybody not around or nearing the age of the 20-year reunion anyway; why would a teenager be interested in a show about people nearing 40? God knows I thought the cast of "thirtysomething" was a million years old when I was a kid. :)

Actually if you don't want to look like a duochebag then don't be a douchebag.

You are so right.

I watched the first episode just to see if the douchebag from high was still a duechbag and if the girls who thought they were all in high school still thought they were and the answer is a huge nauseating yes. The plastic twins are so full of themselves that they are just not that great. Plus, if they would have done that really stupid hip bump when I was in high school which I graduated from 5 years earlier than this group they would have been laughed out of high school. Then you have the turd from high school who was a bully then and it appears is a bully now. Over all this show really doesn't need to be made.

Quintpalm, you nailed it -- those two skeezes never did ANYTHING to replace the importance of being part of a high school clique, so it still passes as success for them. Yikes.

I agree, it's pretty hilarious. The best it ever got for them was being in the "summer girls" in high school, and that's still all they have. Nothing real, nothing important...just what they had 20 years ago. And they actually have this ridiculous idea that someone is jealous of them? How frickin funny is that?

Great post, Brandon81!

Got news for the ill-informed... Times have changed and they'd better get used to it. My husband and I are baby boomers - 55 and 51, respectively - by choice, never had kids (and from the sound of some of the brats here and there, that was a REALLY smart decision), and along with our peers we're still kicking ass and taking names. LOL We're not your grandma's 50-something - those days are long gone. ;-)

First of all, a 30 year old should act like a 30 year old. By then you should be working and act like a grown up. Going around insulting other people, putting them down, flaunting yourself on reality TV and walking around a swimming pool in stiletto platform heels and flashy jewels is REALLY pathetic.

I'm a woman in my 20s, and I see these 40 something year old women dressing in their teenage daughter's clothing and acting like children. In California, you see a LOT of that like no other and its just gross. Dressing in nice clothing doesn't cover up your real age, it shows up on your face and its gross. They think they're actually attractive...I'm sorry but you become less attractive as you age and thats the reality of life.

As for the Summer girls, its not so much Lissette whos acting like a child but Elena whose attitude is still childlike (unfortunately her face isn't to match). This show isn't telling us the whole story, Lissette is actually a successful makeup artist in Vegas and shes married with kids. Shes quite mature if you watch her mannerisms, but its really Elena whos the one with growing up to do.

reply

destinataire... It's all about aging gracefully and taking advantage of the good things that come with maturity. I don't necessarily believe that age = "less attractive," and it certainly doesn't mean we aren't kids at heart and living life to the fullest (you'll understand when you're older, but "inside" one never really ages ;-). It just sounds like a lot of the women you witness haven't found a way to be happy with themselves in an honest, easy-going manner.

I'm 51, take good care of my health and my skin, never had kids (stress-free life makes a HUGE difference ;-) - so, at first meeting people are surprised to learn my age. I don't lie about it - no need to. My casual dress is jeans, sweaters or blouses and boots or sandals. No teen fad crap - hell, half the fashion stuff that's "introduced" these days was worn by me and my friends in the '70s and it was ugly then. Why would I want to wear it now? *LOL*

Anyway, the majority of us 40 and older are just normal. We're old enough to know better AND to not have to take any sh*t from anyone anymore. It's a good life. :-)

*LOL* We see them here in Las Vegas, too! (No big surprise, eh? ;-)

I'm fair-skinned, but actually tanned pretty nicely as a kid - we lived in California until I was 11. Didn't go nuts with it and stopped tanning at all after graduating from high school. Definitely makes a big difference now - thankfully!

Enjoy every moment of your youth and know that it all shapes who you'll be in the future... You're off to a FAB start! :-)

Nothing is good for a laugh like watching the back and forth between a worn out old shoe and a clueless 20 something who are intellectually equal.
This thread was about the ridiculous behavior of the "summer girls", who were still acting as mean and immature as they were in high school. Not because they were having fun and enjoying life, but because they were still so insecure that they couldn't be nice to anyone who wasn't one of them...this is very sad on their part, and not approriate behavior for anyone, in their 30's or any other age.
Having fun and enjoying life means something different for everyone, and if someone is having a good time and happy, it doesn't matter what they are doing or how old they are, as long as they aren't doing it at the expense of someone else. The summer girls were being hurtful, critical of everyone else, and rude, just like they were in high school, shunning everyone and making fun behind their backs if they weren't like them. I can see why a woman in her 50's who crtisizes people who have kids and makes sweeping generalizations about who anyone else who isn't enjoying the same carefree lifestyle that they were 25 years ago would support this behavior. Guess who agreed with you? The woman in her 20's who has had about the same amount of life experience as you. She has seen studies and stuff about how having kids is stressful, but having one isn't "too bad"...wow. For some people, perhaps such as yourself fabslv, having one kid would be bad, and for someone who doesn't want to grow up and wishes to live a life fully committed to having fun whenever you want and not having to think about anyone else's needs, the choice to not have kids is a good one. But, you can't just admit that to yourself without being defensive, can you? You chose not to have kids, apparently, because some of the posts you have read on the internet have been written "brats", who for all you know could have been your age. Therefore, everyone else who chose to grow in a different direction is just stupid and doesn't know what they are missing. I don't doubt that if you had kids they would have turned into the same selfish brats you complain about. I'm 20 years younger than you and I can't beleive your rude, immature attitude towards everyone who isn't doing the same thing you are.
However, some people actually ENJOY dedicating their lives to caring for people that they love, and the love that they have for their children is so rewarding, it suprpasses any stress that might come along with it. Most things in life that are rewarding and have a big payoff are not stress-free. Does that mean no one should go to college or work either? Or maybe going for one year wouldn't be "too bad", but much longer than that and it's just a whole bunch of stress and it might affect your looks, who wants to deal with all that hassle?
My rambling point being, if you haven't done something, you really don't know what it's like, and while having fun is great, being free, yadda yadda...sometimes people do things with a higher purpose. I experienced the "doing whatever the hell I wanted and just having fun" phase back in my younger years and it wasn't something I needed to do for the rest of my life.
A person who is in their 50's and childless and has chosen to spend her life doing whatever she wants, does not have any buisness making sweeping statements about people who choose to do something different, and many people with children have very rewarding, fun lives and raise their children to be happy, caring people who are contributing members of society. Your comments about that show obvious insecurity on your part. I can see how the whole summer girl thing rubbed you the wrong way.
To that end, an immature person in their 20's, who has no kids and gets her info from studies in magazine articles or wherever you get them also has no buisness commenting on what's "bad" or "okay" for the greater good, although probably not having kids would be a wise move on your part as well. While some people have the maturity to care for and give selflessly even as a teenager, reading the back and forth between the two of you shows that some people don't have that maturity ever, whether it be in their 20's or 50's. Both of you, go back to having fun...do some jello shots or something and keep talking like you know everything. There are caring, less selfish people who can deal with molding the future generations. Obviously neither of you can see past your own noses. And yet you both think you have it all figured out. How hysterically pathetic.

My goodness, you've totally read stuff into my post that I never intended. Take a deep breath, okay? :-)

My only point was that the young people on this thread shouldn't make sweeping statements about those of use who are older and quite youthful and vital ourselves. I totally agree with you regarding the summer girls being hurtful and immature. I certainly was not defending them.

And I never said all kids were brats or that people who want them shouldn't have them. I would never be so presumptious. Many of my friends have GREAT kids and they did a wonderful job raising them. It's just not my cup of tea.

And the Internet influencing me to not have children?? LOL Not hardly! I didn't have access until 1996, so that decision had already been made YEARS before.

Finally... "Worn out old shoe??" Kiss my butt! LOL

<Edited to add this> ... Regarding not seeing past my own nose or not having a "higher calling"... My husband and I both lost our only siblings when they passed away much younger than anyone should die. His father passed away four years ago and my mother passed away in 2009. We're very close to our remaining parents and help them out as needed now. We'll be the sole caretakers of them as they grow even older. Ultimately, who knows who'll take care of us? We'll cross that bridge (or jump off of it) when the time comes. We have three wonderful nephews that love us, so that's promising. ;-)

Just saying that pretty much everyone has a life story that you'll never see on IMDB. Tread softly, m'dear.

And now for something completely different...

No not just in Cali. We have them in Arizona too, mostly of the "Scottsdale Barbie" variety.

I am in my late 28s and I watch this show. It's hilarious.

I'm a father of 3(21,19 & 15) and I don't get stressed out. The ones who are stressed let it get to them. You have to decide from the beginning what your going to get upset over and what you aren't. I just don't let anything get to me. That way I avoid gray hair and looking 44. Most people who meet me and learn how old I am don't believe me. They ususlly think I'm in my mid to late 30's.

reply

I loved the Summer Girls, they were my favorite characters! Just discovered this show, wish I could have seen the prior seasons. I will be tuning in this season to see this thing out!

reply

I was also embarassed by "The Summer Girls". But I also thought they were terribly stupid, immature, and so covered with warpaint on their faces that they would need a putty knife to scrape it off.

If I had been invited to their party I would have chosen not to go simply because they chose to exclude others who weren't "cool" enough be invited. I thought it was unkind to invite all but three of the people.

I had to laugh when one of the "Summer Girls" talked about how "totally immature" it was that the cheerleaders decided to have their own party and invite everyone. She was just too stupid to see the irony about her own level of immaturity.

It just amazes me that people in their late thirties can still have such a high school mentality. Why would you want to?

reply

How hilarious was it that the "Summer Girls" who thought their party was IT, ended up going to the Cheerleaders' party because their own party sucked so bad!!!

It was beyond boring, and watching the group leave one by one to head to the Cheerleader party was hysterical! I would have much rather been with the fun group at the cheerleader party, and as Lori put it, not having to worry about my hair or makeup being perfect!

I put the fun in dysfunction!

reply

I think it's borderline nauseating to watch the summer girls prancing around like they are the queens of cool. Is it cool to look like burnt-out, used-up Barbie doll? Is it cool to have not mentally matured a single day since high school? Is it cool to be conceited and cruel to others? Nope. They are the un-coolest ones of the bunch. The others should be making fun of THEM and not the other way around.

We'll see whose the filthiest person alive! We'll just see!
