Part III?

Do you think EA will do another game based on the final movie, Godfather: Part III? Negative reception of the film makes me wonder.

If they do, they should make you play as Andy Garcia's character rather than Pacino's. I wouldn't want to play as an old guy.

For a GF3 game, they should look at the story for the aborted fourth film (which was scrapped when Mario Puzo passed away). The storyline would have had Vincent involving the Corleones in drug trafficking (in stark contradiction to the anti-drug stances of his uncle and grandfather) while a law enforcement task force plots to take him down. It would have ended with Vincent being killed in a gun battle/chase with the task force.

So they could do a story where you are a wild card in this conflict. You start out working for Vincent, but then you have to make the choice, whether or not to stay loyal to Vincent or become a spy for the task force, (or maybe you're playing both sides, like Clint Eastwood in A Fistful of Dollars or Bruce Willis in Last Man Standing). Maybe you might be working for a figure similar to the Cigarette-Smoking Man from The X-Files, who wants Vincent out the way so he can replace him with a puppet kingpin: You.

Well, the game could start at the Commission meeting in AC which the player [A Capo?] helps Michael, Vincent, and Al escape the massacre but Dominic was killed. A power vacuum was created when Michael incapacitated due his diabetic stroke.

From that point on, Al, Vincent, and the player wage gang war against Joey Zasa and his supporters which culminates in the Zasa assassination which Michael takes command (from his hospital bed) after that and deals with the fallout.

The player holds the fort against the other families (which they're still sore over Atlantic city)while the Corleone Family travels Palermo. In a series of missions, he uncovers a assassination plot on Don Michael which leads him to Palermo where he joined forces with Vincent. Then he joins Calo and Al in the assassination scenes but could not prevent the failed assassination on Don Michael.

That's my guess on how Godfather Part III game would be done unless anyone has a better idea.

Whether Taila Shire would record dialogue as Connie that would be a question.

IMO, the best idea for a third game would be to play as Vincent. He's not the main character of that film, so it'd be a fitting to the story of the film, too.

EA stated when they released this that they have no intention of making a GF III, either based on the film or any other story.

Which is a shame as I think these games had some great moments that could have been built on.
Anyway, I'd rather they did a prequel set in 1916-1920's telling the rise of young Vito.
Just been rewatching the flick(s) (after replying this game) and the scenes with young Vito had some great moments that could translate well to a game.
Start out doing petty crimes before moving up. Taking over the neighbourhood, removing gang bosses, setting up a business, earning respect and becoming known etc. Building the "family".
Going back home to get revenge for his father.
The game could be set in NY and Italy.

With the great Red Dead Redemption proving a period set-piece for this style of game can work...why not with The Godfather?

A prequel could be a real rich game. There is a new Godfather book out that they could base it on... that is, if Paramount wasn't suing the Puzo family. However the book takes place a little later than what you have in mind. Mike and the gang are kids/teenagers. Sonny is a punk that is trying to get in the business... he could be the main character.

The only problem I see is that I really enjoy different cars in sandbox games. Not just cars, but fast cars. Getting around could be a very slow process if set in the 1910s or 1920s.

I don't care if they bas it off the third film or not, I just want a 3rd game.
