I loved this film!

I saw it at a Toronto screening and it pretty much blew me away. I do understand some of the objections that a few reviewers have brought up, but I just thought it seemed like a realistic story with natural performances. Lauren WAS that woman, there was not actorly posturing. I hope when the film is finally released that people recognize her work.

I would have never watched another film with Lauren if she gave that kid up in it. Movie or not I had some serious issues and feelings on that whole issue. I started crying when the kid came back and she told him to go. Relief I guess. I know it was a tough go for her but millions of people get by on less and it didn't appear that girl was lazy. She just needed to put her life together a little better and quit messing with the drugs.

I understand your passion but you could think to separate the characters actors play from the actors themselves. Also I don't think $5 for drugs had much to do with it. For example she certainly didn't take the $2000 and buy drugs. That's what a drug addict would do, or go gamble it, that's what a gambling addict would do. It wasn't a lifetime movie of the week where the viewer is brow beaten about the head by a singular issue.

I'm not into dramas for the most part but I found it very watchable, uncomfortable in parts, but quite compelling enough to stick with it till the end. I like to think Casey will be ok and so will Angela and Sunny.

She was basically using the money to gamble. How does giving up $10,000-20,000 in guaranteed child support to roll the dice on property speculation with a maximum payout of $6000 make any sense? That's what the drugs were about too, poor impulse control.
