That moniker should be saved for "Rules of Engagement", "Yes Dear", or "After MASH."

I would rather bundle up little piles of pine needles, and try to smoke them in a pipe, than watch this stupid show.

This was a GREAT show.

lol it's funny you should say that, but you sure love hanging out on it's imdb board.

Big Gay Al, it has recently come to our attention that you are gay.

I was going to post that this was the dumbest post of all times, until I read your posts about Roman Polanski...
those are the dumbest, this only comes in second.

the show just finished its season. it may still come back. they are just discussing what network it should go on!

reply

Glad to hear that.

CBS has stated that the show will not return. Its cancelled. This was a funny show, I really enjoyed it. Kurtwood Smith was hilarious. Granted his character was not like Red Forman, but he was still funny.

I'm a big time betting man and I would like to bet a wager on the fact that the only place that it'll be going on is the shelves and the shelves only and rot and die...... how much do you guys wanna bet on?

We can DO IT ALLLL DAY LONG, (We'll have to pay more for the light bill if we do it at night!)

I hope this show doesn't go! Yes, they ended it where Mel and Sam had their baby but there are so many new and interesting plots and sub-plots to go on! Especially in the "new parents" aspects (trust me, I could give them tons of ideas). Hopefully, the writers/producers take the show in that sort of direction and keep it going! I watch it with my 14 year old and 16 year old and we laugh out loud every single time! True, the title needs to be pondered a little more (possibly "Worst weeks"? could work), but hopefully the network brings it back after Erin Hayes comes off her real life maternity leave. My fingers are crossed!

Its cancellation is the worst loss this season. Countless, fascinating plots & subplots were possible -- just involving the minor characters. The entire cast of regulars & guests was superb, including the parents-in-law (Fred Willard, Olympia Dukakis, et al.). The untold stories about the African-American brother, & why the heck everyone except Mel & Sam liked the smarmy, odious blond brother-in-law, were goldmines. And the slapstick was perfectly choreographed. Remember the wedding cake & the wire, & then Sam finally falling on the cake, after having saved it by chasing it across the lawn?

This was a quality show, the kind rarely seen on network TV. It should have been on HBO. The people who hated this show would have hated Laurel & Hardy, Mr. Hulot, & other similar works of art. Maybe when they reach 40 years of age, and/or have slowed down a bit so that they don't need a cut twice a second, they could relax & enjoy it.

As a soon to be 40 year old, I hated it because I was fortunate enough to view the British version first. The subtle changes in characters and plot to appeal to an American audience were interesting but sadly American television doesn't have the freedom to express adult humor so openly as the British. Unless it's on cable television.

I suggest viewing the British version. There's something about the blokes across the pond and their ability to create countless successfully hiliarious sitcoms.

It hasn't been officially cancelled yet. As of today it was still on the bubble list...

i love this show, very good cast..cbs is a**holes for dropping this show. nbc is on a roll as well, they are cancelling everything on that network right now..abc should join that list too, none of them give these shows a chance..thats why i don't get into anything new anymore...why invest, if they gonna drop it anyway

and a new episode "The Party" was just on tonight....

So confused right now. My DVR recorded Worst Week today - all by itself. It was a pretty nice surprise when I got home and checked out what had recorded today.

Anyway, I thought this show was canceled? I'm reading thru some threads, and I guess there was a 16th episode filmed, and they just decided to air it?

I mean, there was the run of episodes last year involving the weeding. Then the run of episodes involving the birth of the their child. And this one was about Dick's party. Is that it? Just one and done now? And am I right to think that this episode took place between the two runs (wedding + birth)?

reply

The show as ok, I only watched it because I am a huge fan of Kurtwood Smith

reply

Just watch the original English version will you? MILES better. Has Sarah Alexander from Coupling, kicks butt.

Tis stupid that so many english shows get remade for america but american shows hardly ever get remade for the UK...

reply

When is it going? I ask because I'm watching a new episode of it right now.

reply

I thought it was funny and the characters were people you could root for, but to keep up such a simplistic plotline was unfathomable. Hopefully the actors get new roles, like the main character is now in the film SHES OUT OF MY LEAGUE.

reply

I loved this show when it aired, and I'm watching all the episodes again on DVD. I was sorry to see it end, but on the other hand, it would have been hard to keep up the pace and the premise for more than a season.

This show provided a lot of laughs while it lasted, and it never got to the point of being an embarrassment.

Great movies also have to end sometime, and they don't necessarily need sequels. I think this is in the same category. It accomplished what it set out to, and stepped aside when the mission was accomplished.
