what is so great about Charlie?

1) His heists turn out to be bloody failures
2) He gets a lot of innocent people and friends killed, almost his son too
3) He thinks he has class when he is just a hood with nice clothes.
4) Finally, he didn't even have enough sense to ditch that totally conspicuous Cobra.

As much of a screw up as Charlie seemed to be I was left wondering how he made to that ripe old age.

I guess he had the old school gangster charm. It was one of those movies that I really hated then really liked.
