i HATE CBS

I am SO done with CBS. First they take way Moonlight.. now The EX-List... WHAT IS the freggin POINT of giving us these shows if they just take them away!! its crap! who cares if its not raking in 10 million viewers? They are replacing this show with reruns of NCIS because THAT is going to draw in all these viewers they wanted.... im officially boycotting non-pay channels (ex: NBC [Goodbye Scrubs even though its going to be syndacated until im 80], CBS [goodbye moonlight and the ex-list], Fox [idiots who canceled Freaks and Geeks and Family Guy- until they realized the err of their ways and brought it back], and ABC (for running the spin off Private Practice and taking Addison away from SGH)

im sticking to pay channels.... well its not like they're MUCH better but still...

What people forget is for a show there are number of factors of whether a show succeeds or fails.

But the bottom line ratings determine everything. If someone doesn't watch the show, then advertisers won't buy commercials. No commericials, no show.

So what determine ratings? Well first of all we have the completely inaccurate Neilson ratings.

They are suppose to tell a network how viewers are watching. What age they are. And if they are man or woman.

Now unless you actually are a Neilson family it makes zero difference what you watch on TV, or even what you like. Your opinion is worthless.

If you are a Neilson family your opinion determines what the rest of us get a chance to watch.

The Ex List got cancelled not because of how many viewers it got, but how few of them stuck around after Ghost Whisperer. And how many came back to watch Numb3rs.

I find much of what is on CBS to be the same boring stuff. Just how many CSI's do we need?

Oh well time to watch something else...

reply

I agree but what I really hate is how Nelson ratings determine way too much. They don't hardly taken to account the technology that we have today to watch theses shows. Does the Nelson ratings take into account the many people that DVR shows, or watch them on the internet or download them from Itunes. before networks just decide to cut shows they should really take all this information into account. but a lot dont and it will most likely be a while before they do :(( so shows are going to continue to be canceled even though people do watch them, and they'll continue to be replaced by reruns of shows that we see so much of already anyways... like you said, how man CSI's do we need before the population gets sick of it? BUT I do have to give it to CSI and whatever because at least if these shows are getting top rating its not some stupid reality show.. because gawd knows we have enough of those already too!

Thats fine, but the number of people who watch it during its TV broadcast determines how much CBS can charge for advirtising. Thats where networks make their money back. They don't care how many people are watching if they're not making money from how they are watching.

I don't understand why a repeat of anything is better than a new ep of something. I felt like that show was finally getting comfortable with itself and then they just yank it. What a waste.

reply

CBS sucks for cancelling Moonlight, but the ex-list deserved it.
and Private Practice actually good- unlike gray's anatomy!

reply

ugh. i just had my heart broken when i went onto the cbs webiste and didn't see the ex list under the "shows" listing. i loved this show but i only watched it on tv once (watched all the other ep's on the CBS site) .I think cbs should have but us online viewers into consideration before cutting this show.Guess that brings me down to one tv show that im currently watching on tv. anything new coming out soon?

Also, can anybody tell me if the "halloween" episode aired on friday? And if it did where can i watch it?

reply

Here's the problem that the Executives at CBS, NBC, ABC, FOx, whatever, don't seem to get: We have 1000+ channels between cable and dish/satel.

NONE OF YOU NETWORKS ARE EVER GOING TO GET THE SAME NUMBER OF VIEWERS YOU USED TO GET WHEN THERE WAS LESS CHANNELS AND LESS CHOICES!!!!!!

Some people are watching Bravo, some ppl are watching the History Channel, some the Biography, CMT, DIY, BBCA, Pro7 Whatever.......... There are so many choices!

STOP CANCELLING SHOWS! They need to FIRE those "Old School" execs at CBS, NBC, ABC and FOX because they are still thinking like it's 1995 when we only had 100 channels on cable to watch.

It's 2008 - times have changed..... if you've got 5 million viewers... that's amazing, considering, people COULD be watching PPV or "How Clean is your House", and a bunch of stupid reality shows sprinkled across 1000 channels.

This really is an outrage! To cancel both "Moonlight" AND "Ex List" is BAD MARKETING. Not mention, placing them on the Friday night slot..... are these Execs stupid married people with no lives that are home on every Friday? Because the rest of America isn't! Another reason these execs need to get the ax! I'm single - I go out on Friday and Sat.... But I've got something called TiVo.... I can watch my shows on Sunday and any other day of the week. Doesn't matter. Hell - I went to Europe for a month and Tivo collected ALL my shows on 16 different channels.. waiting for me when I got back. Day of the week - no excuse: Execs - BAD SKILLS! Need NEW BLOOD!!!!

I had not watched CBS in about 25 years until "Moonlight" was on - that was the 1st time in 25 years - a QUARTER of a CENTURY that I watched this network. I don't care about their "Mentalist" or their "CSI" I Loved "Moonlight". I didn't know Moonlight was canceled, I thought, they were delayed because of the Writer's Guild Strike. Then comes along the "Ex List". Now come on.... What girl can't relate or get a kick out of that? Even if you're married, it's funny, it's original, it's a delight! And 3 episodes????? That's all we get to see?

CBS - You SUCK! Now I remember why I haven't watched you in 25 years. So, if you are going to cancel great quality shows like "Ex-List" and "Moonlight" FORGET YOU! I'm sooooooo not into "Big Brother" and "Survivor".... Forget you!!! I'll find something else on another network, maybe a foreign one like, Pro-Sieben. But I won't be watching you.

By the way - I saw CSI for the first time when I was in Germany .... and let me tell you.... "CSI:Whatever" you are NO "Law and Order" L&O is WAY, WAY, WAY better - you sooooo try to be Law & Order, but you fall short and everyone knows it! CBS - Who needs you? Not Me!

I'm not even going to bother with CBS anymore - they blew it! Not once, but twice! I don't trust them again, they a mostly reality show with a few 'hit's here and there. Not worth my time. I shall spend the next quarter of a century BOYCOTTING THEM!

reply

I agree with what you say 100%. im pretty much done with CBS, they're dumb because the ex-list was litterally the ONLY time my TV was EVER on CBS.. lol now it isnt ever on CBS so they arent even getting my "count" now anyways so what was the point of taken off the ex-list?!!?!??! grrrr... at least they finished out the first season of moonlight....

You guys need to relax. I could barely stand to watch 5 minutes of this stupid show. I'm glad it's canceled.
It's all about ratings. Deal with it. Just because you like it, doesn't mean everyone else should.

Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean that everyone else should hate it too. I personally enjoyed this show, I looked forward to watching it and the fact it was canceled really bums me out, but what can you do?

reply

but lucky for you, you have 200+ channels to pick from instead of "this stupid show", unlucky for us, once it goes off air, bye bye its gone.... plus if you hated this show, WHY come into a message bored and disagree with people who did like the show?

You don't work for CBS do you? *rolls eyes* because thats what this is sounding like.

Actually i was thinking the same thing you are.

reply

what are you even doing here then?

I really liked this show and each one was getting better. I too am not home on friday nights and really, putting a romantic comedy on after a ghost show? please.

BAD call CBS no wonder I never watch any of your shows. Now I never will knowing that you cancel them so quickly. Why bother?

reply

~ I know what you mean. I feel the sameway. The Ex-List was a great, funny show and the only show I'd watch CBS.

It seems by all the posts on here that there are a lot of people who did like it. I hate TV anyway and this was the only show I wanted to watch. Now its gone so Im back to hating TV again.

reply

Well, I get pretty much every channel available, and not counting all the sports junk & infomercial crap, it's still under 200. So most definitely, the numbers are going to have to be counted differently than they were when TV was new and there were maybe four or five channels among which to choose. But there can only ever be so many of anything--channels, shows, whatever. It often occurs to me that most of the worthwhile, quality stuff already exists, so they may as well air mostly repeats with just a few actually great new things thrown in WHEN they've hit on something good enough not to get canceled after one or two mediocre seasons of blah-blah humdrum who-really-cares-ness.

Also...what the HAY?! "Stupid married people with no lives?" LOLOLOLOL. Oh yeah, 'cause the swingin' single sure had one, boy. How pathetically lame. Singledom isn't superior to marriage. Home on Fridays/Saturdays is in no way worse than, uhhhh, I don't even know...wherever else one might happen to be on one of those nights? Where would you have to be on a Friday or Saturday night that's so much more important than watching one of your favorite shows? And besides, with DVRing capability, it really doesn't even matter when a show is on.

I hardly think very many people found "The Ex List" to be an original, funny delight. X-/ Not to mention that a "list of exes" is nothing I'd want to be able to relate to.

soo true!!!
first moonlight and now this!!
they didnt even get a fricken half season!!!
this show actually made me happy! lol
cbs is full of *beep*

reply

Freaks and Geeks was on NBC not Fox Kaosnklutter lol.

Scrubs was NBC... so don't fault CBS for that. And really... not sure people were ever clamoring for the Ex-list...
