Ending...How I see it.
This is how I see the ending...even though this part is not shown on the film.
I guess I'm the "Pollyanna" type.
The wife is furious with Paul and they are estranged for awhile. She comes to the realization (perhaps by speaking with a counselor) that her husband is a man with integrity...something this is hard to come by in this society.
Organ transplants are not 100% guaranteed even under the best of circumstances. It's possible that if Chloe did get the lung transplant, they would be rejected even with medication;the agony starts all over again.
Paul and Diane reunite. I'm not sure how realistic this is, but I see them taking in one of the Mexican street children and working to help other street kids. I think Paul would then devote his life and helping the children. The Chloe Fund would be formed that would help the street kids get a better life.
I realize this is a movie, however the trafficking of organs is only too real.
An excellent book ( made into a movie ) is Coma by Dr. Robin Cook. I highly recommend Dr. Cook's novels.
Thank you,
