Could actually Ricky Gervais beat John Cleese as my favorite Comedian?

John Cleese is my favorite comedian.

But lately Ricky Gervais has become one of my favorite comedians

things like: The Office, Extras, Podcasts, Invention of lying script, Ghost Town, and Stand-up have all made me realize that maybe Ricky Gervais will be the new John Cleese. If the Invention Of Lying is as good as the script was AND Cemetery Junction is a good film (not just funny, but "good") then...Ricky Gervais has surpassed John Cleese. At least in my book anyways :p

Yeah John Cleese was fantastic at off-beat comedy. But Gervais has taken it a step further with his own brand of cringe-worthy comedy. He's easily my favorite comedian, him and Merchant are deadly together.

Well, we're still waiting for a full film with gervais that's actually good. I don't mean Ghost Town or Invention of Lying good, because let's face it, those are pretty average. I'm talking about Meaning of Life, Holy Grail, Life of Brian, A Fish Called Wanda good. I have faith in Cemetery Junction, but then again, if this turns out great as I'm hoping it does, I think we have to give great credit to S.Merchant. We already saw what Gervais does without Merchant, and it doesn't look that good.
