Repetition of jokes....
Cemetery Junction was pretty much everything I expected. A British film, set in 1970's Reading, helmed by Gervais/Merchant. It ticked a lot of boxes and, overall, I quite liked it.
However, there were two instances of a repeated jokes which I don't quite understand why they were there.
Firstly, in the opening few minutes, there were two jokes about Elton John being straight in the 70's. The first joke sat well ("Don't listen to music by poofs, listen to Elton John"), but the second one with Gervais reading the paper a few seconds later just seemed strange.
Then later, after the C'Mon Feel The Noize performance, Snork tells the Noddy joke, with the "C Word" punchline, resulting in the obvious hushed silence. But then, again, a minute later, the "C word" utterance is greeted with exactly the same shocked silence. Like the Elton John joke, it just seemed so strange to have exactly the same joke just a few minutes apart.
Anyone else notice this?
