Did anyone else need the subtitles?

I don't know what it is with UK films.Sometimes I can understand what they're saying, sometimes I can't.Is it the dialect?
If it's a movie like The Queen or Harry Potter, no problem, but a this movie and others such as Happy-Go-Lucky, I need subtitles otherwise it sounds like a foreign language.

Quite a pointless post if you ask me. It's just a northern dialect. If you can't understand it, don't watch it and miss out on some of the best British films that have been made.
Also, can't be a foreign language if you speak English.

Its set in Reading, which is in the south of England

OPEN YOUR *beep* EARS THEN!

This seriously pisses me off. I haven't come across an English speaking accent that I don't understand. Why is it so difficult for other people? Total laziness and lack of respect if you ask me. Only a very small percentage of people in Britain actually speak with a received pronounciation accent. When people tell me that my accent is hard to understand I take that as an insult.

reply

Nope. Didn't need any subtitles. And I'm from norway.

Actually I'm English and I found a lot of the dialogue in this film hard to understand simply because the background noise or the music had been mixed too loud.

Canadian here, absolutely no problems.
