NOT Cemetery Junction!!!!!!

I like the film, some sharp and witty dialouge and touching moments, Gervais and co did really well. Totally under-rated film which should have done better at the box office....BUT: it's nothing like Cemetery Junction in Reading!! I grew up there, and the only reason I can think why they never filmed anywhere near the real Cemetery Junction is the real one is a much bigger dump than the one in the film, it's about a hundred times worse..and if everyone spoke in a Reading accent, like Gervais still does, they'd have to have subtitles...

Ok calm down... Have a tic-tac and learn who Stephen Merchant is.

.....does seem a bit odd to name it after a specific place and then film it in an olde worlde Oxfordshire village like the one out of Hot Fuzz....

...oddly enough one of the very first "reality shows" on BBC was a 1974 series called The Family, dating exactly from the era in which this film was set, about a badly-off working class family the Wilkins who lived in Reading...its probably on a certain well known video sharing site somewhere....and I have to say the look and feel of life on that show was considerably rougher round the edges than the Gervais version...

My grandmother was the social worker for the family
