5D's on Xbox Live

So I'm asking about the video game and not the show, but does anyone have the game and can they tell me if it's any good? I wish they would make a game that was just like the original Yu-Gi-Oh show and how like when they would duel the monsters would appear and stuff :(.

It's a mixed bag. It is fun if you can get used to the fact that they only put in a 1000 cards out of a possible 5000+ cards in actual existence. Also you have to win the cards through dueling the same like 20 or so people over and over and over and over again. It gets boring as hell playing the same decks and with no money system or pack system, you have to pray you win a card you don't have after a certain point. And it is mostly just newer cards from 5ds big shock.

They do a few stupid things like putting in skilled dark magician but no actual dark magician. That being said, it is great to have a lot of rare cards at your disposal to create and experiment with decks that would be really expensive to create in real life. There is actually a decent amount of people always playing online so that is a huge plus and a lot of people experiment as well so it doesn't feel like you're always playing the same decks.

However, a HUGE drawback is the ranking system. You only earn experience toward you're rank if you complete a duel, win or loss. Obviously more points for winning, but most people quit when they are about to lose so it makes gaining experience, ranking, and earning some achievements feel like a year long goal. This is because when someone quits it's like you didn't even duel to begin with, no points, no nothing. Worst of all, no penalty to the quitters, which is why you can imagine so many people quit whenever they're losing.

Overall, it's fun if you love dueling and experimenting with decks that are expensive to create in real life like a lightsworn deck. It is a cheap buy. You get used to the 1000 card boundries pretty quickly and it helps you strategize knowing that that there's only so many, say, traps that could be sprung on you. The bad side is stupid quitters with no penalty, stupid way or earning cards, not designed for novices or beginners, and should have had more cards.

Thanks for the reply! I actually ended up getting the game, even though I wasn't very good at it in the beginning and still get my butt handed to me contstantly by the AI players (whom I think they made WAY to smart and move way too fast), but over all I think it's a fun game. I have to agree with you about the pros and cons, too. I don't know why they didn't put more of the cards in, but I realized that even though you can buy card packs for like $2, I'd rather not waste my $2 and just wait until I get the cards from dueling. I haven't dueled any living people (ie non-AI) but the fact that they can just quit when they're losing and not get any penalties from it seriously sucks! *sigh* Just another example of how so many gamers need to seriously grow up and take defeat with dignity, you know? Anyway, thank you for a great reveiw :).
