6.2 vs 3.5

I enjoyed this... no Academy Award winner but a cutesy coming-of-age flick that can be related to from both the parents' and the teenagers' points of view.

The trip to London hit home for me as the Mods and the Rockers and Carnaby Street were a part of my own coming-of-age. Poking fun at the English stereotypical lifestyles was amusing, as well.

I see that they tried to translate this into a Hollywood offering with Demi Moore and Miley Cyrus that didn't fare so well.

French version: 6.2 rating here on IMDB. Hollywood version: 3.5. Now granted, that 3.5 is very badly skewed by many people rating it a '1' without having seen the movie.

However, it's still indicative of the woes of Hollywood. They can't produce much worthwhile on their own, then manage to butcher a successful vehicle from another country.

And in the US a movie ticket plus buttered popcorn and a drink cost how much??

"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"-and Hollywood has rarely seen an idea it didn't want to steal-the film is being shown here in Australia on the SBS free to air channel that specialises in foreign language films (mostly)-they will give it subtitles themselves if it doesn't already have them in English.

'What is an Oprah?'-Teal'c.
