What is the worst DTV movie Steven Seagal has done?

Since TICKER, Steven Seagal has Brought out a big collection of dissapointing DTV fair, but which of them is the absolute worst?

my vote is, SHADOW MAN, ATTACK FORCE and FLIGHT OF FURY.

reply

Without question, Flight of Fury. I haven't seen the original, but I can't imagine it was ripe for a remake.

I'm watching Against the Dark as I type and, like Ticker, it's a film which should have 'with a Special Appearance by Steven Seagal' on the cover. It certainly isn't a Steven Seagal vehicle.

reply

The same can be said for EXECUTIVE DESCISION, but that part is obvious, TICKER was more a Tom Sizemore vehicle, AGAINST THE DARK was more along the lines of a low budget horror movie featuring Steven Seagal and didn't really serve as a vehicle for anyone.

^ Well, AGAINST THE DARK certainly seems up there high on the list, based on this review...

"Attack Force" will forever be the worst due to it scraping the bottom of the barrel in every department...but I quickly follow it up with "The Foreigner" for its neverending dreary setting and bleakness, "Out for a Kill" for taunting us with a minute of innovation amidst the residual ineptitude, and also probably "Black Dawn" for promising so much and delivering so little.

reply

THE FOREIGNER, I remember that this film was very repitive and didn't really boast an interesting storyline that kept you hooked.

OUT FOR A KILL, this one was your everyday Seagal going out to avenge the death of wife, it boasted an even less interesting storyline and none existing character development.

BLACK DAWN, if you didn't know, BLACK DAWN is the sequel to THE FOREIGHNER, and I thought it was certainly better but started lacking towards the last half.

SHADOW MAN, ATTACK FORCE and FLIGHT OF FURY, three Steven Seagal movies that each had the potentail to be Seagal's comeback, but their major setback for one may have been their budget, but I think the biggest downfall for these films is the fact that they were directed by someone who thinks he's Tony Scott, that person's name is Micheal Keusce (my spelling of his surname may be incorrect),
the action scenes in all three would make you think your DVD player is malfuctioning, because the fight sequences either look like photo shoots, or it looks like someone is pressing the fast forward and rewind button repeatedly, and the strange dubbing of Seagal's voice are more evident in these three films, the director's style reminded of Tony Scott's MAN ON FIRE that used this acid veiw, it looked like the director went for the same type of thing, but screwed up in more ways than one.

If I could give some good advice to Mr. Seagal, never work with that clown again, and as for the dubbing of his voice, that I would one day like to hear the explanation for.

FLIGHT OF FURY

Also Ticker was crap

The Foreigner, Out for a Kill, Attack Force, and Kill Switch.

Enough said.

The Foreigner, this one... I love Steven Seagal. I even bought a Nico fig to place on my car's dashboard... (Big mistake... Heat warped the plastic and Seagal looks like Quasimodo.) I felt dirty after renting this movie... Nothing can wash the shame... (but at least it had Johnny Cage)

I can't wait for Michael Bay to direct Care Bears. Using real bears so it can be more realistic.

seagals done some bad but ones attack force was awfull and submerged was another stinker but i could watch them, but shadowman takes the cake with a standin for the opening credits when he's teaching students to fight and as soon as he macgyvers a hand gun when the baddies lock him up in that room had to switch it off.

reply

Attack Force, god that was crap.

reply

Kill Switch and Driven to Kill are the worst ones I've seen. The Patriot also was pretty bad. I think that was his first d2v movie.

reply

If all these Seagal STV movies are so bad (and they friggin' are), why the hell do you continue to watch them? For Christ sake, if everyone just stop paying for his constant flow of crap, then the crap would finally stop.

reply

Well how will you know when he makes something good if you dont watch it? The problem is there's no quality control at the source. And nobody's willing to take a critics word for it that it may be a bad movie. Everyone thinks it may just be that one person. I always figured his recent movies were pretty bad since they weren;t getting into theatres anymore. I think Im pretty much done now. I've watched about six Seagal movies in the past month and only one was even half way decent. The rest stunk to high heaven. I hadn't even seen a Seagal movie since The Patriot back in the late 90s. Then I decided to take a chance on some of these STV movies though everyone said they stunk. I started with Against the Dark and started working my way backwards. The critics are right.

"Well how will you know when he makes something good..."
ROFLMFAO! Good one, oxblood!

Killer sarcasm aside, the days one looks out for a good Stephen Seagal movie are long gone.

Let me put it this way: Say you were flipping through the movie listings and you came across, "'PAST PERFECT' starring Carrottop, Richard Simmons and Rosie O'Donnell as three wacky friends who travel back in time to kill Hitler. Hilarity ensues."

All you'd have to do is read that blurb to know that the movie is going to blow. The same thing applies with any movie that begins "Starring Stephen Sagal as..."

I hear you on that, mispaur. But Im a sucker for martial arts movies and all it takes is a name sometimes to hook me. I wouldn't even have given this one a chance if it wasn't a a derivative of Blade which is one of my all time favorites. Those darn marketing people know what they're doing. They can even sucker in an old cynic like me sometimes when they use the right bait.

Besides, after seeing JCVD, I'm waiting for Seagal to have his little comeback moment but Im sure he's not savvy enough or probably too self-conscious to open himself up like that. FIrst, they'd have to bribe him with a buffet to even get him to show up at the meeting.

1. Attack Force
2. Out For A Kill
3. Black Dawn
4. Belly Of The Beast
5. Kill Switch

imo. I pretty much enjoyed the rest, to some degree. and I've watched all of them except for Flight Of Fury, Ticker and Against The Dark.

The boy you loved has become the man you feared.

Kill Switch was awful because of the obvious stand ins in every other scene. It was as bad as "Game of Death", except that Seagal is alive and well...why don't they finish these movies with him? Black Dawn was the same. And I've not yet subjected myself to Attack Force.

For all those who think he can't do any good ones anymore, Urban Justice from 2007 is fantastic. As good as his old stuff.

I have not watch every one of them, there is still some i got to see. The Patriot, Mercenary for Justice(one of the few i had to track down a french version on the internet from france, since there is no french dvd in quebec of this one) , executive decisions and maybe 1 or 2 others.

Usually i like his movie for what they are, for exemple The Foreigner, people seem to really not like this one, i tough it was ok... i watched it on my laptop in my hotel room with beer while on vacation and it was a nice little time... Actually i liked it much more than Black Dawn even tough the latest had a better cover.

In any case, the worst to me remain Attack Force. Even without the bad dubbing you guys have to endure(i watch in french, so its ALL dubbed) the scenario make no sense and the action is dumb. Its a bad, very bad hybrid of a movie.

Against the Dark is not bad as a zombie movie, but i guess having Seagal barely appear in it was disapointing when you expect more.

I remember Flight of Fury to be not so good too.

But personaly im really not a Seagal hater, i love his old stuff and i like his DTV movies too in general. I just get in the mood to watch THAT when i do. I always expect that kind of movie so it make it fun if i can say.

Urban Justice
Into the Sun
Half Past Dead
Born to Raise Hell
A Dangerous Man
Force of Execution
A Good Man (the latest i saw)

Where all movies i really enjoyed for what they are. Just to name a few, but there is others too.

Alice is the worst character of all time, she need to die in the last movie. Chris/Jill are RE !!!

reply

Attack Force and Out for a Kill are his worst.

reply

Attack Force is Seagal's worst by far, even Foreigner and Kill Switch are very good if compared to that.
