CRIMINALLY overlooked by the academy

Robert Duvall and Bill Murray both should have received nominations, likewise for the screenplay and film itself. I thought it was fantastic and did not receive the recognition it deserved from the academy.

reply

I agree wholeheartedly. They both gave sterling performances. They are as brilliant now as ever.

reply

Ditto to both of you. I watched it last night and loved it. All I could keep thinking is why wasn't this nominated.

I agree with the consensus. It is a mystery to me as well. I think this is a quiet little masterpiece.

2nd.

The Dude abides.

"Robert Duvall and Bill Murray both should have received nominations"

Amen to that... I thought Bill was a lock after seeing it and Duvall is superb as always.

reply

I agree. I caught this on STARZ today, knowing little about it.

I fell head over heels in love with this movie. Best movie I have seen in a long time, and way better than any of the Best Picture nominees from last year.

reply

Glad I paid to see it in theatres. It deserved my money in that venue.

reply

I'm with you on that. This is so beautifully written and acted, I think I have found a new favorite. I laughed so hard in places, I had tears streaming down my face, and yet was completely lost in the depth of the story. Very very good--which means, of course, that almost no one knows about it.

reply

Add Bill Cobbs into that group that were robbed and I'll go with you people on demanding an answer as to why this films actors were overlooked. Great work from many...

reply

The academy is devoid of any prestige these days so being ignored by it is a bless.

Tis the season. So many great films and efforts overlooked again this year.

reply

As well as Best Cinematography.

reply

Couldn't agree more with you. Robert Duvall was absolutely superb. His finest performance for a long time I believe.
