What is a 'broken tango'?

I love dance (and films about dance), but I'm not personally a dancer, and I don't know much about the art form, so if this question seems rudimentary, apologies. I was curious about the "broken tango" dance scene (feat. Jazmine Sullivan's "Bust Your Windows" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8rSgoZqQ0E )

Is broken tango a style of tango, a style of tango music or just what the filmmakers happen to have called that particular dance scene? I've Googled the term a bit, but only come up with links to the film's scene (like the one I just included) or videos of other people doing their own versions on YouTube of the scene's choreography to the same song.

Could someone explain the meaning behind the term "broken tango" for me, please? Would love to learn the history here. Thanks!
