Why all the negative comments???

"Gina is too loud...Gina is too fat...Gina is annoying...Gina and Pat are too fake!!"
Geesh! Some of you people need a life and some fresh air...shallow and jealous bunch aren't you??? Do you get your "stuff off" by bad mouthing people you dont' even know? Do you know what an on/off switch is? Is your life so empty and joyless you take pleasure in name calling? Would it be more exciting to see the two of them just standing there staring at each other...then you would complain that they are too boring!

I say more power to them! They are a cute couple, and if they can get their little 10 or 15 minutes of fame...GO FOR IT!! Their food looks good too!

Gina, you go girl...and your hubby is FINE....HOLD ON TO HIM!!

I'm surprised no one is talking about the recipes.

Hmmmmm. Perhaps it is the fact that 99% of the recipes are heart clogging, cancer causing loads of sugar, saturated fat, cholesterol and/or salt.

reply

I LOVE the show too!!!! I agree...if they bug you so much change the stupid channel and stop wasting time on message borads trashing people!
BLESS YOU NEELEYS!! I would make a special trip just to go to their restaurant!

reply

I'm surprised by all the negativity too. They seemed to be happy, go=lucky cheery duo, and their recipes are very American, old fashioned southern cooking. And despite all the comments about the food being "artery cloggers, full of cholesteral and blah, blah, blah" a good deal of those southerners live long, long lives. I still say the way you die is related to how you feel emotionally. If you are miserable and don't enjoy life, then yeah, you'll die real quick. You love life and family, you'll live and die happier.

Bull$hIt.

More bull$hIt but funnier.

Kenneth - are you new to posting comments on a message board? I have read a few of your posts and you seem to take things very personally. For someone who has been married for 22 years (there is no reason anyone should know this bit of personal info about you, this message board is for discussing movies, television shows, etc...now there are other boards where you can discuss marriage, etc...but I like you digress) it would seem to me that you know how to let things roll off your back and allow others to have views that differ from yours.

Now, I am going to get a little personal. Some people buy Paula Deen's cookbooks and by her own admission, her favorite ingredient is "butta". I imagine people will buy the Neely's cookbooks too because we live in a society where people have different tastes and desires and we have the freedom to partake in them. It's called diversity. There is diversity in cooking, diction, lifestyles, ethnicity, race, culture, etc... and that is the beauty of America, the diversity! I for one applaud the FN for bringing some diversity to the channel. It is great to know there are shows that the "other half" can relate to. In case you are unaware, diverse cultures lead the purchase power in the United States. We are doctors, and lawyers, and we make lots of money and we buy stuff AND we love our culture and embrace our culture. Believe it or not, there are people who talk and act like the Neely's that carry a great deal of earning potential, intelligence, and political clout. Wake up and join us in the 21st century! It's a beautiful diverse place!

I think they're adorable, talented, sexy and deeply in love. The hating is just ridiculous and petty! And the recipes are tasty and they make it really easy to follow. They're a wonderful addition to The Food Network.

If you don't like the show - don't watch. No need to be nasty.

reply

I'm glad I'm not the only one. People are just so negative on IMDB in general...it's really off putting. I love their show. They are such a cute couple and I hope that last for a long time.

reply

I so agree...people are negative and petty on message boards such as this because they are jealous cowards and they say things that they would NEVER say to anyone's face! It's so easy to hide behind a phony name. Disgusting comments also come from people with way too much time on their hands! Especially the ones that continue to watch the show and go back on the boards to say how horrible it is!!
Just get a hobby people!! Leave the Neeley's alone....

chay123, I personally do think Gina needs to lose weight but that doesn't mean I am jealous or empty or anything like that at all. So is that really your opinion, that anyone who has any negative opinion of someone is really jealous of them and and are shallow?

I would like to see Gina lose weight but honestly think they are a great couple and some of their recipes don't look bad, many of their receipes look extremely unhealthy to me but who cares, they are not the food police with the requirement of only making low cal or low fat food.

HI Marykayellen!
Nah, this isn't communist China, you are free to have any opinion you want. What annoys me is the tone of alot of the comments, some of them are downright nasty. You can express your thoughts and feelings without being a nasty human being! If I dont' care for a show I'm not going to go on personal attack on someone I dont' even know! If you don't like a show, just express your thoughts in a mature manner (like YOU did) and move on. Don't go on a tirade and then come back on the board again again and again like you dont' have a life! Believe me if you check some of the messages on these boards you know what I mean! LOL!! But then again for IMDB that may be too much to ask for since I guess its more fun to tear people down.
THATS what I was trying to express!!! :0)

Very well put chay123! I must admit I love a good debate on this website regarding my likes and dislikes but I see your point that in some cases people can be jerks.

It seems that Pat and Gina are truly in love, I don't think anyone denies that. But sometimes the sexual innuendoes get to be a little too much, but it seems the more recent shows are not as bad as the earlier ones were. I don't care too much for the recipes. Most are them are them trying hard to be fancy, and face it, they cook down home Southern food. What normal people eat. How many people here after a hard day's work come home and fix Lobster martinis and Asian Salmon on the grill. My family always gets home cooked meals, I don't buy anything prepared or boxed, but could never afford lobster, and the salmon gets put in the oven with Cajun seasoning.

Gina isn't as loud as she was, but she could never be a friend. Pat on the other hand, is a lot quiet, and he could be a good friend, good eye candy too.

I've only seen one episode of their show, but they seem so cute together...and I would try to make some of their things if my cholesterol weren't high. =/

reply

I think Gina and Pat are very sweet.

reply

I like Gina and Pat so much! They seem to have fun together, and don't come across as fake. (I love when they show old pictures of themselves and their families.) And even though they're not exactly cooking health food, what's wrong with that? Sometimes that's what you're craving. I would take the Neelys over several other Food Network stars any day.

smoke (not from the bbq) and mirrors... they have forced themselves onto the world.

What about that time I found you naked with that bowl of Jell-O?

reply

I agree. I'm reading these comments and I just want to say "if you don't like the show or the Neelys, then turn it off!" There was one comment about their food not being healthy. Well, then don't make it; go find a healthy recipe to make. Besides, not all of their food is unhealthy, I have no idea what that guy was talking about. And I love all the affection they show for one another. I think it's nice to see two people who really love each other and aren't afraid to show it. I think there's some jealousy with all the negative comments about their show of affection; probably people who wish they had that kind of relationship with their spouse!
