What happened to Ryan? (Spoilers)

Did he commit suicide? There are some hints he did: Near the end of the movie he is looking at a very large destination board and lets go of the handle of his baggage. Remember his talk about unpacking everything in your life? The closing scene is a view from the clouds and gives the impression he is back in the air as usual. But there is no airplane or mention of one in his closing statement. He only mentions "his" wingtip.
