One of the funniest movies I've ever seen!

I just saw this movie this past Sunday at the Sonoma International Film Festival, and I laughed and laughed and laughed--along with the rest of the audience. I highly recommend this movie. Hollywood needs to take notice of this kind of comedy (low-key, and yet outrageous at the same time; definitely not "lowest common denominator" humour) which is so much funnier than the generic mainstream comedies which tend to make their way to the multiplexes. To watch some video clips of this movie, go to the official site:

Then click on "CLIPS" to the left of the guitar. Then click on any of the three clip images on the right side of the screen. The first clip is of the first few minutes of this movie. I don't think it's the funniest part of this movie, but it will give you a sense of the humour. The third clip is of the main character performing one of his "folk satire" songs--hilarious! This movie is all about enjoying this main character who's this mellow, very likable musician who gets into absurd circumstances once he takes his act to Los Angeles. I really hope this movie gets a theatrical release. At any rate, keep a watch out for it in theatres and/or on dvd.

Agreed.

Just saw this a couple of hours ago at the Quad Cinema in NYC.

Awesome, hilarious movie. Phillips' songs are nothing short of comedic.

Agreed, funny movie! Wish we had more movies like this out there and less of the generic comedy stuff we see these days...

"Did you mean for all those words to come out like that or did they just fall out randomly?"-H.H.

I just finished watching it today. My favorite scene is when he, his drunk brother and the girl go out for sushi! Could not stop laughing.

I streamed it off Netflix and also thought it was hilarious. I loved the first scene where he swore on air. Very similar humor to Flight of the Conchords.

For the Non-Netflix subscribers PUNCHING THE CLOWN is now available on Hulu. http://www.hulu.com/watch/351635

I've known about Henry Phillips for several years. Saw his half hour special on Comedy Central, been a fan ever since. But he's always been kind of obscure unless you saw his special. I hope this movie, which I loved, helps him become a more well-known name in the business. He's hysterical and his music is top notch.

Facts are meaningless. You could use facts to prove anything that's even remotely true!

Stephen Lynch is a very similar artist - but I guess there are more of them hiding out there...
