They think they are so brave bashing Christians in their movies and tv shows. Yawn...try bashing Islam instead and let's see if you are really brave. Now THAT would be a bold move but they won't do it of course because the left fears Islam and even goes out of it's way to protect it even tho it's ideals are diametrically opposed to everything the left claims to uphold.

The only problem is the founding fathers didn't have the foresight to define what religions were in some bold terms. Simply stating religion referred to Judaeo-Christian ones would have been sufficient. Given Thomas Jefferson fought the muslims and knew their cult of hatred was never going to work with Christianity. It would also eliminate the wacko things like Scientology and Pastafarians.

Everyone who is intellectually honest admit they are an "agnostic atheist" or "agnostic theist" since no one actually knows, and probably could not know, I just don't bother...if you believe in god you're a theist, if not, an atheist, simple.

Secularism can only improve a society, not destroy it.
Religion is the most repugnant of human inventions.
One could argue that religion has a unifying function as it gives the same sense of direction and purpose to its followers which is very good to keep a certain level of harmony inside its community (and sometimes a whole society).
A second person could argue that it's nothing less than brainwashing used to control the people so the ones on top can use them as they please to gain money, power, and thus fulfill their own agendas.
Both have their flaws but both seem more peaceful than this in-between chaotic and uncertain phase we seem to be in right now.
Secularism can only improve a society if the religions with the society are peaceful... but when you have one like Islam that promotes conversion or elimination of the non-believers then you have a problem that secularism can't deal with. In that instance you need a strong dictator to keep the violent muslims in their place. Look at Iraq, it was only peaceful when you had Saddam ruling with an iron fist otherwise violence out the ass rules that country.

People seem to have a very deep-seated need to believe in some kind of greater power, cause, or movement, and when religion fades away, most of them seem to replace it with an ideology of some sort. And then they can become every bit as fanatically devoted to that ideology as any holy inquisitor ever was to the Roman Catholic Church. Friedrich Nietzsche anticipated the war of competing ideologies that would take place in society when traditional religion faded away, and he was right, as the bloody history of the 20th century illustrates.
If we could get rid of religion and be very rational beings I would completely agree about the desirability of eliminating religion. Sadly, as the late scifi author Robert A. Heinlein pointed out man is not a rational animal, he is a rationalizing one. And all too often people devote their mental energy not to seek facts and truth, but to justify conclusions they've already reached for largely emotional reasons. In that sort of setup, religion can actually be a stabilizing factor in society, and serve a useful function.
Christianity is a plague? LOL Go to a Muslim nation and say anything bad about Islam and see how long you survive. Whereas people bash Christians all the time here and nothing happens. That's the difference. Liberals are scared of Muslims in two ways. Because they want their votes in our elections. And because they know Muslims will literally murder over their silly religion.

As I said, the show takes place in America, it's natural that they focus on the local religion if they want to criticize it.
And muslims are indeed more sensitive about their stories, Christians can take it..so rather than a lack of balls it might be to avoid disrespecting the more delicate group.

There is bashing going on here, but it isn't Christian bashing, it's bashing of corporations who commodify faith.
As for the Muslims, you can have your opinions about them and Islam, but they haven't allowed for their faith to be turned into a commercial product. Even if Islam wasn't largely irrelevant for a critique of American society, that alone would make it unsuitable for what they're doing here.
