Why didn't they just electrocute Translucent?

It seemed to hurt him at Hughie's store, it knocked him out, i'm sure if you shocked him long enough it'd kill him, which is why i didn't get why they was trying so hard to figure out what could kill him when they should already know.

I think they said that was the problem: it would only hurt him, not kill him like a regular human. But you raise a good point--if they'd zapped him with a lot more power--maybe take him to a power station or some high-tension lines--would that work? But then Homelander might see him.

Sadly I think in hindsight it was just because they wanted to do a gross out scene with his guts splattered everywhere when they stuck the bomb in him. Though frankly I don't understand the logic in the bomb splattering him. They explained his outer skin was pretty much impenetrable with anything as if it was pretty much as strong as Wolverine's claws... so the bomb really shouldn't have made much of a mess at all unless it just caused some guts to squirt out his asshold, ears, nose, mouth or possibly eye sockets.... the shell that protected him should have been left untouched which would have probably made for a better story with them then having to find a way to get rid of the indestructible evidence left behind.

I know this is 3 months late but I just finished the first season :)

That's actually what happened. Remember they had to find a way to dispose of the indestructible skin? They locked it in a trunk and tossed it in the ocean, knowing that eventually Deep would find it but at least it would buy them some time. My real question though is what did they do with his diamond heart? That could be turned into a hell of a wedding ring :D

It's been a while since i watched it but I thought he pretty much blew up making a huge mess. Even though they had to deal with the skin the mess should have been much less. He pretty much blew up like an egg in a microwave.

reply

You're right that the explosion looked like an egg in the microwave, or maybe a pizza pocket is more accurate :D But as for the size of the mess, the way I thought of it was like when you put your finger over the end of a garden hose, the water sprays out all over the place. The bomb forced all of his guts out through the various holes of his body the same way. But really I think it was for the shock/comedy factor than trying to be realistic.

TaterTots would have a point, except that they pretty much showed separate fragments of skin, not an empty, human-shaped sack.

Really, if they'd wanted to gross everyone out, the human-shaped sack would probably have been more disturbing

reply

Since it was made of a material that Homelander can't see through, I wonder if it would've been better to bury it deep underground somewhere, so that even Deep couldn't find it.

Butcher wanted it found. Remember, he left them a message in the lid: "COMING FOR YOU"
