And do the comics explain who the father of her baby is? At first I thought it'd be Homelander, but that got ruled out.

I think it was his need of a mother, but that is speculation.

I think he had this weird Oedipal complex thing going on. He was also jealous of the baby for all the motherly attention and care it was getting. Homelander grew up without a proper parental figure, so I think Madelyn was both a proxy mother figure and someone who he was attracted to, and it all got mixed up in his head. Their relatioship was the most fucked up part in the whole show for me.
shareAt first I thought she was his mother (surrogate), then I also though he was the father of her baby (unknowingly) -- but then they also had a romantic relationship. Don't know what to think... some kind of reverse Oedipus/Incest deal. Throw in Cain and Abel if the baby was his brother.
