I had a problem with the amount of religion-bashing in this show

There wasn't enough.

Noice.

I was actually surprised by it. Not a lot of shows from what I have seen anyway is so bold when it comes to bashing religion. I did appreciate it, though.

reply

Yeah. Bash it to death!

I dont like it at all, being a christian I feel uneasy with this type of story telling but... They absolutely nailed that conference thing, the worship leaders, fake pastors etc...
It's something I abhor in 'so called' christian movement because it's downright making a mokery of what Jesus came to show. So in a way the Sparkbright girl got the actual message correct.
The current christianity we are seeing is a diluted media driven monster, far removed from the examples of love to be found all over the Bible.
So yeah, I enjoyed that episode just for the way they highlighted that issue, anything more than that I will keep my reservations

It’s actually pretty low-key for something written by Garth Ennis.

His most religion-bashing stuff would either be Hellblazer or Preacher.

It's not really religion-bashing. The company uses the Supes' department to cover all trends and demographics in America.
For example in the comic books there's a... I guess, a franchise called "G-Men" - several teams of superheroes selling kind of edgy rebel stuff. So I can assure you that while Homelander and the gang where talking about Jesus, somewhere out there other supes where gangbanging Antifa chicks and blowing coke off the violated butt-holes of BLM homeboys.

they weren't bashing religion, they were bashing religious hypocrites
