Movie sucked 3/10

I don't know what happened to my original comment on this ... the first of anyone as I saw it on Amazon the day it came out.

This movie tries to bill itself as Alien-adjacent, in that it is about a Russian cosmonaut that comes back from space with a passenger inside him and the dedicated, unconventional woman doctor that is brought in by the state to try to help him.

It is a rather long time till we see what we are dealing with in this movie, and the path that leads up to it is just about boring enough to make you want to doze off or just find another movie.

When we finally meet the alien it is unbelievable in terms of size and threat. Take a look at the poster ... the giant monster and the man cosmonaut and you get the idea. Little by little our doctor starts to find out what is really going on, which is not very much, and there is some minor intrigue between the doctors and administrators and sneaking around. Sounds not too exciting doesn't it. It is. None too exciting.

At the end of the movie they've thrown in pretty much at the last minute this totally unrelated subplot about adoption from out of nowhere, and we are led to think it ends happily ever after ... of course after almost everyone is dead. Tolstoy or Dostoevsky, it isn't.

It has a similar "military wants a weapon" subplot, and some blood and gore, but nothing very graphic or scary, all dark and hard to see.

There were some ideas here with potential, but the moviemakers steered way wide away from them. There is hardly anything in this movie that makes sense, and actually I expected more from a movie from the lands behind the Iron Curtain, so to speak, because it made it to the Western release.

I would suggest if you are interested in this movie wait until it is free to watch on whatever streaming platform you choose, it is not worth paying for at all.

better than a 3/10

I have to disagree - to me its definitely not 3/10 but more like 5 or 5.5 out of 10 because its not really hard to understand movie apart from the subplot ending and the poster you can obviously see its a shadow, so wasn't expecting a massive creature, the creature wasn't big but it represents an unknown threat.

I would say this was better then prometheus or its sequel.

It might not have reached its potential but it was a pretty easy and simple setup but could have been better with more action scenes and also i assume there was more to the subplot that might have been cut out as i was expecting the creature and the child be connected at the ending somehow.

That is a hard call. Maybe, but I have to say at least Prometheus and Covenant keeps you awake.

Any movie that I regret wasting time on to me never rates 5 or above. For me 1 is unwatchable, I had to turn it off. 2 is at least I was able to finish it, but it was not good or had something unacceptable or very stupid in it. So forth and so on.

reply

Fair enough, i understand now why you rate it as is because i rate anything watchable as 5 and this is watchable if you have nothing good to watch.

my opinion is it can be enjoyed but overall it is alittle boring and without having some good action scene midway or in the ending then this didn't thrill me as it could have done but it was just about enough to keep me going also its not a very complex movie to understand which is a plus.

That's unfortunate.
