The girl's mother should have survived! FFFFUUUUUUU
What are the chances that he would come to that exact store at the same time that she manages to escape? Not to mention that stupid talkative bitch of a shopkeeper!
Shut the *beep* up shopkeeper!

Never before have I raged so much at a movie. He didn't even die! Don't know if I like it or not, I'm just mad.

It seems very likely that they would meet there considering that it was the place normally shopped, and for the girl it was the first place she could call for help.

Plus, the day wasn't exactly going according to the killer's plan. So he'd be burning through his cigarette packs.

It's like there's a party in my mouth and everyone's throwing up.

talk about the worse luck ever.

1. bad timing to escape just as the killer gets loose from the cops
2. killer happens to run out of smoke to go to the same store she is in
3. the female cop chasing the killer didn't see anything or hear screams.
4. your pimp don't pick up the phone
5. cops are sleeping

wow god must hate this bitch.

3/10 for the movie for making me mad too.

If I had to pay for every time I laughed at this I'd be in debt.

I saw "I Saw The Devil" and heard this film was supposed to be even better, and I was really liking it up until the mother was killed. It's such an F-U to the audience. She spends half the movie in a dank bloody basement trying to escape and finally does only to get screwed over by happenstance.

I would have liked it much better if the killer had shaken the cops off, happened upon the mother, got ready to kill her and then the hero shows up and they have their final fight in the store.

I don't need a happy ending all the time, but goddamnit, this would have been one of those times I really wanted one.

Don't try to cash in love, that check will always bounce.

@ C.S

THANK YOU

The whole entire murder of Kim Min-Jin was just to play on the audience emotion, so when Jung-ho catched him (which he did), he would be more motivated to do what must be done, which he attempted.

TBH, I found the whole notion of Kim death ludicrous and poorly done, but at the time of watching the film ,it hit me hard. Thoughts that were going through my head at that time was "Life is cruel", "There certain people that should just be killed, *beep* human rights", "This is her fate, she was meant to die, (this thought was to assuage my emotions)"

After watching and reflecting on the scene, ANYONE with 2 brain cells can see that this was a DUES MACHINA ploy from the director, for the reason stated above:

Reasons

1)The taxi swishing pass Jung-ho, ok-ok fair enough the man didn't want to get paid or even had a passenger but hell, are you seriously going to run all the way there. This did two things first it prevented him from answering his phone and of course delay him from getting there on time.

2)Young Min, conveniently runs out of cigarette, right in this particular shop vicinity.

3) SHOPKEEPER, I mean seriously WTF, she had a huge sign over her head saying KILL ME, I'm currently LOL-ING mad hard at this whole precept. Firstly she tells him about a lunatic in the area (fair enough, I understand she is shocked by a girl covered in blood entering her shop in broad daylight), so I;m going to let that go and assume she doesn't listen to the news.

4)SHOPKEEPER, goes as far as point out that probably the lunatic done that to his face (we know it was Jung-ho) to which he smiles and starts to leave, BUT WAIT no he not allowed to leave since she is scared that the lunatic might attack her. So wait you have a girl covered in blood using your pone in the back of your shop, he man covered in scrupulous cuts and edgy manner but you force him to stay. HAHAHAHAHAHA lololol even harder

5)SHOPKEEPER, gives him a HAMMER, The subs said something along the lines of "I only have a hammer, no chisel (LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL) so please stand there and guard me, I feel much safer with you standing there, guarding me"

6)KIM MIN-JIN calls Jung-ho, but no police. ROFL....yep DEUS MACHINA and a very cheap ploy to play on viewers emotions. It worked initial, and I'm not ashame to admit it got me good. I was cheering for Kim all the way, but it wasn't to be...evening so ATLEAST GIVE HER A GOOD SEND OFF, no director decided to show bits of her brains flying whilst she reflects on her 7 years old daughter!!!

IT WAS CHILDISH AND DESTROYED WHAT WAS A WONDERFUL PLOT, IMO this is akin to KIM MIN-JIN escaping and being hit my a bus, just as those 2 cops in the car saw her.

AND I TOTALLY AGREED WITH THE TWO COMMENTS...GOD MUST HATE THIS BITCH...AND C.S WOOD

still gived it 10/10

Korean movies are always killing main cast. Either through cancer or bad luck.

reply

Rating a movie based on the fact that the ending did not please you is foolish.

reply

not if the ending is so forced... come on they just forced a unhappy ending.

reply

The ending was perfect. It was bitter, upsetting, made you feel cheated (exactly like she was). We had invested so much time in believing that she might make it out of that room alive, and she DOES, only to get bludgeoned to death with a hammer and dismembered. It's a cruel spit in the face, and that's exemplified wonderfully as we see our protagonist go to swing at the end, only to be held back. Loved the movie, just watched it an hour or so ago.

If the movie made you angry then it did its job.

The movie itself was born from the public anger and frustration in South Korea towards Yoo Young-chul, the serial killer on which the movie is based.

When you have a reaction like this, you know the film has done its job.

Agreed, it showed the film has done it's job.

I wanted her to live as well, however, it just didn't work out at all. The lady trusts him so she spoke and that was the end of it. Then he got really brutal with the murder especially since she had escaped.

If the cops had listened to him and if he had paid attention when his girls were going missing, this could have been avoided with this one, especially since she was sick and didn't want to go to work.

yeah it avoided the traditional formula of LOGIC.

Oh You like it alright ;) this is how you're suppose to feel, unbelievably outraged. It's sort of like Romeo and Juliet outrage, the ugliest most unfavorable fate ever. I felt the same way about that shop keepers fat trap!!! Stfu!!!

reply

YES!

It's called "good story."

The happy, wrap-it-all-up ending would never get past my writing critique group. They'd be yelling "CLICHE'!"

It had my stomach in knots, but hey, that's a GOOD thing!
