So what did I learn watching The Chaser and I Saw the devil back to back

Koreans have a thing for cutting of Achilles tendons.
Korean police are the most incompetent in the world.
Koreans are remarkably resistant to head injuries.
There are no average looking Korean women, all of them are HOT.

Hated I Saw the devil btw, loved The Chaser.

I just saw both movies recently as well and enjoyed both movies. I noticed that about the Achilles tendons. Grossed me out lol. Bit creepy. And yea Korean women are gorgeous.

lol!
You forgot, Koreans also have a thing for hammers.

The achilles slice has been an overdone, cliched gore scene in horror/thriller type movies for YEARS. Not just a asian thing.

THere were some ugly girls in both this and Devil.

Agree on all other points. I did hate certain aspects of devil, but as a dumb, mindless thriller it was fun and suspenseful. ANyone who makes it out to be more then that annoys me greatly though.

Chaser was fantastic, although i will never watch it again or recomment it to anyone.

Devil was amazing. Some of those scenes still haunt me today. The Chaser is good also, loved both of them, but I Saw the Devil was more my kind of movie, I don't see why people hate it. It's either they love it or hate it I suppose.

reply

Some people hate it because of how outrageously idiotic it was.

Achilles tendon cutting is in Sympathy for Mr Vengeance too!

reply

Appropriately vague criticism.

a lot of the horror in korea is influenced by the french. If you go to a korean DVD renting place you'll see a large collection of french horror films.

The first two movies from east asian cinema I saw were Oldboy and Ichi the Killer, so for a short time I thought there would be tongue cutting in every movie as a thing.
